What size tires can a stock 04 4x4 hold without rubbing

Trying to find rims and wheels that would fit my truck without rubbing

new to all of this and trying to figure it out

 

With no lift and stock rims (or stock rim dimensions) it's 265/75/16.

 

Do you know the size rim they have

Yes all i can find is 05 and up

depending on the tire, some of the 265/75-16 will rub the frame at full turn

so the answer to your question is "stock sizes"

 

I have a 2004 trd. I bought 4 new tires last week, 265 75 16 (cooper discovery AT) and they rub a little, but only when backing up at full turn.

 

265/75/16 is the largest sized tire you can fit on a stock rim. If you go for AT tires like the general grabber ATs, the aggressive tread will rub on the fender liner near the pinch weld or the hard wear that holds the mudguards. I trimmed my mudguards and heat gunned and molded the fender liner to clear. Hope that helps.

 

The stock wheels on the '04 Taco are 16x8 with wheel offset of +1.00 and back space of 4.54 inches. Bolt pattern is 6x5.50 and front center bore of 106.1mm. I researched wheels and tires for my '04 for 5 months before I made my decision and have TW to thank for most of the info!

 

The stock alloy wheels from the '01-'04 Tacomes are 16x7, not 16x8. You got the rest of the stats pretty close except for offset. It is stamped on the inside of the wheels at +15 mm. On a 7" wide wheel this calculates out to ~4 9/16" of backspacing.

 

I have 275 70 16 and I dont rub

Minor hijacking here but I see you guys are online. Speaking of offset and back spacing what can expect a 16x8 -6mm to look like compared to stock. Thanks.

 

I assume your are referring to how far they will stick out? About 3/4" further out than a stock alloy with less BS than stock. Its about 4 1/4" of BS.
