Installed everything but it says it won't work with my vin number...

My truck said i needed a capable android or Apple phone to use navigation...

Don't forget if you clip those bad boys you gotta pull your tailgate handle to release them. I looked like a jackass trying to figure this out in a home improvement parking lot. YouTube tailgate extender and you can see some examples of how it works. Pretty cool if you ask me....dont wanna lose a $200 part on the road.

I called Pop & Lock and they said for 2016 tacoma it will be PL8535. Just had it installed so much more easier don't forget to wire it to the passenger so that it opens on 2nd time you press your key fob.

yup, its loud, Its a noise coming from the tailgate itself. I'm going to put some dynamat in the tailgate to see if I can get it to quiet down, but complaining about a loud tail gate is pretty silly if you ask me...

It is a little loud - clunky. But unless you are right next to the tailgate it's not bad. No issues with it not working - works great. The only issue, was that for whatever reason, the two connectors in the tailgate were reversed (which seems to be common because the directions stated if it happens to just reverse the connections) so it locked and unlocked in reverse. switched connections and boom - no problems.

Has there seriously been reports of tailgates getting stolen? Not being snide. I'm a cop boss in a very urban area. Never heard of it. If true ill tell my officers to BOLO people walking around with tailgates.
I understand wanting to secure the goods in the bed.
Okay maybe that does come across as snide sorry. But seriously has anyone had their tailgate stolen?

Mine has been working almost flawlessly. Other than a couple weeks ago when I was in some pretty cold weather (mountains of Northern Idaho) it didn't want to lock every time..I took off the tailgate cover to examine and found that it was just having some issues moving in the lock direction. Added some grease and found jimmying it with the tailgate key usually got it back on track. Since then its been totally fine. I just check it if im leaving it somewhere or overnight.

Yeah - very easy. Just like NWTacomaDave said, add a little grease to the slider and all should be good. I actually "stole" a little that was already on the tailgate mechanism.
