well i wish i had the magic answer but im hoping overtime we can piece together some smart builds that will inprove torque in the 3rd gen.

    Aftermarket cold air intakes,
    Performance exhausts,
    Cat backs,
    Platnium tipped spark plugs,
Manifolds, heads, SUPACHAGA!? Other engine mods?

I know the playing field is pretty small yet for the 3.5, but in the near future we will hopefully see some cool stuff coming out so id be very interested to hear what yall are doing in terms of engine/performance mods (as opposed to relentless photos of lift kits and wheels [not that we dont all love these too]) as well as results and pics if possible!!

Update: people have been reporting some noticeable gains from magnaflow exhaust, and a nice tone apparently

Yes, THIS! I'm mad they discontinued the supercharger. I could really have used that on the mountain passes this last weekend. Hauling 4 people and 500+ in the bed... Really slow uphill

Unless you meant boost as in NOS...? that doesn't belong in a truck IMO...

I swear the 3rd gen will get the tundra V8 in a few years when Toyota puts a diesel in the tundra. The Tacoma was literally built to hold a V8, still not sure why it's not an option. The 4cylinder should have died with the 1st gen (again just my opinion)

A V8 would be nice tho!

Never say never, I could swap one in if I reallllly wanted. I'll wait til I have 500,000km on the truck and the engine needs a rebuild

Tacoma will never get a v8 but don't be surprised when they get a version of the turbocharged 4 that Lexus is currently using.

They are making a supercharger for the Colorado V6, so I don't see why they wouldn't for the Taco?

17" TRD wheels w/265/70/17 BFG KO2s, Weathertech mud flaps, Gecko LED bed lights, more to come.
Toyota is not going to, they dropped that from the TRD line across the board and won't be bringing it back. The topic has been beat to death on the 4Runner forum. I think URD is working on developing one though.

Toyota could do it. I wish they would.
    2GR-FKS[edit]
The 2GR-FKS combines the D-4S system from the 2GR-FSE with the simulated on-demand Atkinson cycle used in the 2UR-GSE and 8AR-FTS engines. The intake camshafts are equipped with VVT-iW and the exhaust camshafts are equipped with VVT-i. In the Tacoma the engine specifications are 207 kW (278 hp) at 6000 rpm and 359 N·m (265 lb·ft) at 4600 rpm.[9] In the Lexus RX 350 the engine specifications are 220 kW (295 hp) at 6300 rpm and 362 N·m (267 lb·ft) at 4700 rpm respectively. In the Lexus GS350 the engine specifications are 232 kW (311 hp) at 6600 rpm and 380 N·m (280 lb·ft) at 4800 rpm respectively.
Same engine, different tuning. I'd like for them to give me the option. Power or MPG's.

I do believe so. Maybe @blkbelt42 can chime in on that one.

All those other engines just rev higher...not like you will get any more power at a lower rpm. 265tq at 4600, 267 at 4700 and 280 at 4800...not a big difference in torque. In all honestly who cares about the higher hp in a truck, there is a speed limit, what is the hurry? If you are concerned about hp get anything besides a truck.
