Would Icon treat/repaint these coilovers if I were to get them rebuilt? He says there is a little bit of rust on the shafts as well which is huge. I'm thinking that it may not be worth it. Wanted to know what you guys thought.

Hopefully he's been busy fixing that second Gen of his with a proper 3.4 motor.

Oh wow. That's not too bad of w price but the rust up top on the threads scares me a bit. It could ruin them and you wouldn't be able to take them apart or adjust them.

Sometimes you gotta pass up that killer deal and save the headache for someone else. It's hard.

A little chassis grease on the threads while adjusting will prevent that. Also would make it easier to adjust those if you bought them.

I just bought the parts to rebuild my Icon's and it's run me about $200 for 2 rebuild kits, all 4 uniballs, oil, misalignment spacers and a spanner wrench. Shafts are another $50 per so you would be looking at around $225 since you have the spacers, spanner wrench and depending if your uniballs are in good shape (might as well replace them as they are $40 and you would have brand new everything). They are very easy to do yourself, hardest part is finding a place to charge them with Nitrogen. You can clean up all that rust easily with some elbow grease and a bit of work. I'd talk him down to $275 and get them.

Thanks for the insight and advice. I'm gonna see if he'll budge off the price. I don't have much experience in breaking down the coilovers but I'm sure I could look up a tutorial and research what to do.

I don't either, but I have seen them pulled apart and it's pretty straight forward. A little messy, but from what I've heard nothing crazy.
