Middle of July before most of the higher trails open, and there will still be snow in some areas.

Isn't there a trail to get from the "Aspen Valley" over to Taylor Park (Where tin cup is)?

Maybe he's mixing it up with a different trail in the area? There are a couple of harder ones in the area/off the same road. And there's Williams Pass off the Alpine Tunnel road. But everyone else is right about Tincup being easy. We did it in 09 with my Tacoma and a rented stock Nissan Pathfinder. Pathfinder scraped a couple of times on loose rocks just west of the pass, but that was as much luck and line as anything else. We didn't do the old route. And the TD map shows old in blue, it's just a short segment from a reroute.

Depends on the place/year. July is pretty average. From my same 09 trip I have a shot of my truck on snow off Hurricane Pass taken August 6th. Two years later trip to Crested Butte area, we camped on Paradise Divide. To get there we crossed an avy pile that had just become vehicle traversable that morning/the day before. There was a drift right there at the Divide a few people had driven up a bit off the road to get around and I spent an hour or so bashing open. Before I did that we went past it and came across two guys digging out/clearing ice off the road and helped for a bit (this is on the way to Schofield). This was on July 16th, and a couple days later we drove around the other side toward Emerald and the other way up to Schofield, and it was blocked by a 30' deep drift. There was speculation it wouldn't clear out at all that year, but it did sometime in early to mid September. Some of the more popular passes get plowed (Cinnamon, Engineer, Ophir) and they usually shoot for Memorial Day.

Are you thinking of Pearl Pass or Italian Creek or Taylor Pass? Probably Taylor as the most direct.

It would be fun to meet you but I don't want to drive all the way up there and I would hate for you to drive down here too. Is there any in the middle?

I guess the question is, what's open? Centrally located...
Bunce/Iron Clads? Should be open, I don't think there is a gate. Since it's February, I can say I haven't run it this year.
MSV/Coney Flats? Don't have a clue if it's open or not.
    Any others in the area?

I'm certainly open to other suggestions. I might even bring donuts. That's been known to draw a crowd before. :)

You front rangers get a day or two of warm weather and think it's spring time? Lots of snow still up here in the mountains.

X2 if you north of Denver your choices are sevenmile or sevenmile. Have to go quite a ways south to get to anything else that MIGHT be open.

If I didn't care about @BDN driving down here I would be heading up to slaugher house or around there.
