I just got a rtt and haven't mounted it yet.
I have an all pro bed rack that sits on top of my bed rails and bed.
The rack bolts into the factory rails.
The rack sits flush with the roof. I am going to put the rtt on top of the rack and am scared something will happen

There is nothing to be worried about as long as you make sure everything is bolted down. I have mine on a bedrack, which sits on the bed rail and bolt directly into the factory rails, and the RTT never moves. I check it every now and again by pushing and pulling on it. My whole truck starts rocking b/c the thing is mounted so rock solid. You'll be fine. Rest at ease and enjoy the tent.

I have a CVT Mt. Rainier on my DCSB. There is overhang past my bed bars, but the amount that overhangs doesn't flex at all or concern me when someone is sitting in that area. It's myslef, wife, 1year old and 65lb boxer in the tent. From CVT site:
    Size (Sleeping)

    72″ wide x 96″ long

    Size (Open)

    72″ wide x 132″ long x 50″ high

    Size (Closed)

    72″ wide x 48″ long x 15.5″ tall

How do you get your boxer in/out? Just carry up the ladder? Mine weighs the same and im just curious if itd be too much hassle to take him on trips or not with the rtt now.

    Heres mine :D

I take my pup up and down the ladder. I really only have to get my feet to the 2nd or 3rd rung of the ladder before I can set her in there. The first time, it took about 10 minutes to coax her down. My girlfriend pretty much had to push her out. She is used to it now, and I think she enjoys sleeping in the tent. She weighs about 50 lbs.IMG_1984_zps511c7013_3cc27538facd58a441105a399d56a630a8f46678.jpg

The sliding ladders take up more room when the tent is closed so they will stick up higher than a telescoping ladder will under the cover. Depending on how your tent is mounted a sliding ladder could be too short. There are ladder extensions available if you need one but it requires some drilling and it's another piece to pack. The telescoping ladders can extend to 8'6" so they are tall enough for almost anything without the need for any extra pieces.

Both types are load bearing and help to support the cantilevered side of the tent. Personally I MUCH prefer the telescoping style ladder.

I don't know the area that the bed bars cover, but they are @RelentlessFab tall bars and I spread them as far as the rails let me. Honestly I don't see myself getting a tent larger than this one.

From fully closed to fully setup, i roughly have it at 10 min at the most, and this is setup without annex. I have an annex but my bars aren't tall enough to justify putting the annex on, you can see it bunched up in one of the pics. But overall I'm pretty pleased with my setup! Glad to help any way I can!

I'm with @CO Ryan on this one. I just lift her up the first two or so steps carefully and she's used to it now so she nows to lean forward and kind of pull herself in....lol as ridiculous as that sounds. She enjoys it for sure! That's a beautiful dog sir, they are hands down the best breed (biased opinion)!

@AKSig88 I'm considering the Relentless Fab 8" bed bars to mount the RTT on. I would would like to keep the top of the tent (closed in transport mode) close to cab height. I'm hoping it will still fit in the garage this way. Is the annex totally useless with the 8" bars or could the bottom be gathered/fastened somehow and still be utilized? It sure would be nice for rain and a changing room.

I have the 8" bars and I definitely could use the annex if I spread the bottom out a little bit. Granted it's not as tall as if it was mounted on a traditional roof rack, but it is still usefull space.

As far as folded height, I can easily fit in my garage with my CVT on.

I have the Relentless tall bed bars. My RTT sits just a tad bit higher than my Frontrunner roof rack. I also use the annex for changing, a little storage, and is where my dog sleeps at night. I can't really stand up straight in there but it serves it's purpose for me.

BTW I'm so happy to finally post in this thread. Been a long time lurker gathering as much info as possible.

Perfect! Thanks for the feedback. The Relentless Fab bed bars (from what I understand) are pretty stout. Th KB Voodoo 8" version rack looks promising as well, but don't know if and when it will be.

    @rka thanks for the input.
Anybody considered mounting folding out to the rear, pros/cons?

Nice to see what those look like from the side. Im pretty sure Ill be going with the relentless bars as well. Just keep going back and forth between the tall and standard height.

Can you even use the rear view mirror with the high bars? Looks like it might work just reduced visibility out of it?

I can see a sliver past the tent but not enough to say that the mirror has any use. It's a small sacrifice I was willing to take.
