my gas mileage is getting better as the weather has been warmer this week. Even some 30 mpg stretches on flat highway (55 mi/hr) and through a few spots around town. Seems like the cold weather really wrecks having on avg. gas mileage. (choke I'm sure). Anyway, increase of 2 mpg versus a month ago.

This is my 60-65mph gas mileage. I got off the freeway once for ice cream. 95 miles in a 4x4 DCLB OR. Got gas on the highway and drove home.

This is good to hear! It's really cold up North here in Canada right now which probably explains why I've had terrible mileage... It's was a tough call the other day trying to decide to pay for gas at the pump or take my sled dogs to work... Last year was worse tho, I lost a dog to frost bite. That's the real MPG killer

I just installed 265 75 16 BFG K02 on my double cab TRD off road 4x4. I drove 50 miles on my way home. Mix of city and highway. Highway was 65-70 mph with mix of flat and hills ranging from mild to a 2 mile 6% grade climb. I averaged 24.5. I filled up before my trip home. I was pretty impressed with that seeing I'm running heavy e load tires.

I'm at just under 2000 miles and my average is 18.3MPG so far and has been ever increasing since I quit driving 70MPH everywhere and the temperatures have been a little warmer the past week here in Michigan's U.P.

Has anyone divided the total miles driven between fill-ups and the amount of gallons pumped? I find that number usually a bit different than what the computer thinks we get for MPG, and its generally lower. Hoping for the best however!

Thaty is what fuelly calculates as does my spreadsheet. The screen shots really only tell you what you did from one trip and are better described as an indication or estimate as opposed to a true calculation IMHO.

the MID screens can show trip, tank, and user defined start mileage. Fuelly is only as good as the information it receives from the user. The truck's computer is more accurate than the user readings of mileage and gas intake.

Ah you must believe in the tooth fairy as well. If your tank is empty and the tank takes 80 litres too fill it and you drive 500 miles and run dry again. You fill the tank up and it takes exactly 80 litres the math involved is exact or it was when I took arithmetic division in Grade 3. You would be getting 6.25 litres per mile. Repeat every time you fill the tank. Again the math is not hard and has to be correct. If the trucks computer calculates a different number the computer is wrong. Why? Because the trucks computer does not measure the actual gas flow leaving the gas tank. In short the computer is only as accurate as the information it gets.

18-23 is what I usually get but I'm in allot of stop-n-go traffic
for 90% of my daily drive.

I want an exact volume going into the tank. The fluid metering in the truck is far more precise than any gasoline pump metering or the inconsistencies in the volume to surface area of the gas tank in the truck

Pump meters are checked (Dept of Weights & Measures) and required by law to be calibrated. I'd trust that over the fuel metering capability of the vehicle. Toyota is not under obligation by law to provide precision fuel metering as they are not selling you the fuel, the fuel vendor is however.

The truck does not meter the gas going into the trucks engine. The system doesn't work that way. Look it up.

The gas pump flow is metered based on a set temperature. In the winter you get slightly more gas and if the temperature outside is warmer than the base line temperature the pumps are set at you get a little less volume. At least that is how the gas pumps are set up here. Neither of which is significant. If you believe in Santa carry on but you should agree that over several fill ups the average fuel economy based upon the miles driven and fuel consumed ought to reflect with accuracy the fuel economy of the vehicle.
