Does anyone happen to know what the percentage is on the rear window/windshield of a '16 double cab? Taking mine in this weekend to get the front windows tinted to match and wanted to get an idea of what to expect.

Just had mine done, '16 DC TRD Sport. They measured the rear at 26%. I had the fronts done at 30%. Looks awesome. Slightly lighter in front. Here's a bad pic...

My Access cab rear measured at 26%, I went with SunTek Carbon XP 35% up front and I think it looks great!

I got 35 on the fronts and had 20 added to the rears to keep the back darker and help keep it cooler, looks good and not to dark.

i think 35% is 50 state legal. Some states require you get it measured during a safety inspection. In WA the sun is never out enough to worry about tint. If i move down south i will be getting 35 just to not have any issues.

It's actually 24% in WA. The legal limit varies from state to state.

    State by state law.

Some states don't allow any tint on the front door windows. Some don't care at all.

    Some are in between.

PA is no tint or 72% light transparency which is basically nothing. On the meter a clear window reads 81%

I have 40% of light enter on all windows. That is FL back window law. I think the dealer did it for me when i picked up the truck for free.

I did 30% on the fronts and left the back doors alone and put another 30% on
top of what was on the back window - at dusk you can't see into the truck if you're
at the tailgate but it's still light enough to see very well at night from inside.

I also had mine checked at the tint shop and the meter read 30% for the rear, had the front done at 35% with uv block also had the sun roof done. looks like a fantastic match to me.

I read that you should add some tint to the back door windows also because the factory 'tint/die" has no UV protection.
I was planning on 30% on front windows and maybe 50% on back door windows since they are already darker.
    Anyone know anything about this?

Wow, thanks for all the great info! Looks like the general consensus is in the ballpark of 25%-30%. Did everyone roll with ceramic tint or something else?

I went with 20 on both front and back (and rear). 3m color stable.

Careful on the sun roof , my dealer won't do them as they have had them shatter in the heat. Asked another high end dealer and they said the same thing and that maybe nano ceramic tint may be ok, but when asked if he would do his, he said no for the smaller sunroofs.

Just something to keep in mind. Many people measure the factory smoked glass to be around 25-30% but it is in the rear. You have to keep in mind the front windows get a lot more back lighting from the windshield than the rear. Given that, 20% on the front usually matches perfect.

That's odd beings pretty much all sunroof glass is already tinted from the factory, including the Tacoma. Wonder why putting tint on that would cause it to shatter anymore than what's on there?

I was thinking about putting 80% carbon on there just to keep the heat out....

Joe, I've been reading a lot and watching videos and it appears that the tint is not reflecting the heat like a mirror but absorbing it so that it can get so hot as to shatter. Not sure but that is what I've been seeing. Maybe that is why they would rather not do sunroofs.
