Yeah your guy is 10-ish minutes from me. VMI would charge me $75 an hour which isn't terrible, definitely could be worse. I bet they will come up with a bad ass design though

They surely make cool stuff. PERSONALLY (and I am a little biased after meeting this guy) I'd go with the guy that's 10 minutes away and $15/hr cheaper because those hours are going to add up FAST and what if you go back up there are it doesn't fit right? Ya know?

Let me know. Sunday would be better, but we'll see if I can adjust my schedule.

Yeah I completely agree on that but we'll see what he says. It isn't set in stone with VMI yet, just going to meet with them and see what they come up with. Also going to do an sPOD at the same time (I know you guys aren't big fans of it but I like it and have read almost all good reviews) to clean up my wiring, LED strips on the underside of the rack to light up the bed, tabs for my extra LED pods on each corner shining out, hi lift mount, shovel/axe mount and a few little things.

LED strips on the underside of the rack to light up the highway** fixed that for you ;-)

Are you going with aluminum for any reason other than weight? That shit is EXPENSIVE.

haha we'll see ;) someone will spot me with them on

Actually not for weight as much as it doesn't rust. It'll get scratched up on trips, taking the tent on/off, taking it on/off my truck etc.. and can put it under the trees out back and not worry about it. I've talked to a few people who have a steel one and they wish they would have gone aluminum for that reason. In the long run it'll be worth it.

That's a good point- I wouldn't have thought of that. I was KINDA worried about my rack having the same issue, but being primed and powdercoated made me feel pretty good. I plan to pick up a can of that powdercoat touch up paint too.

There isn't really any reason to take your rack off since its so low profile, ill keep mine on most of the time unless I need it off. Im going to put some kind of non skid grip tape over the bars where the tent will go so that doesn't scratch, but stuff will still happen.

I didn't make it to Vancouver, so my 48 hours started at 8:30 last night. Thinking of doing something south tomorrow morning. Interest?

Can you send me this guys info? My sliders are sitting in my garage painted and ready to be welded on. I was going to use another guy but he is super busy and it would probably take a little time before he can get to me.

Just picked up these from the loading dock this morning.... :)

I went and got a quote for Line-X this afternoon - $325!!! I realize they waste a lot on this configuration compared to a truck bed but still seems a bit steep. In another thread a guy had his SOS sliders done and it was $200.

What do you guys think - just rattle can them?

My plan is to use herculiner on my sliders. And spray paint the mounting legs. I think most people spray paint theirs. Makes touch up easy.

I primed then sprayed mine. With no front mud flaps they get hit quite a bit but small rocks. I have to touch up mine every few months

I primed and then used the Rustoleum spray-on bedliner on them. Did the same with my skids and so far I have been impressed with it (although my truck has spent more time in the driveway than not since putting them on).

    Thanks for the input gentlemen!

How much surface prep are you doing when you touch them up? Do you unbolt them (if not weld on) once every year or two and redo everything or just keep on top of the chips and scratches as they happen?
