Perhaps if you search "Michele" here on this site, that will answer 3 and 4 for you. I don't think that she would mind helping Ben out on this one. :)

Please jesus. Protect me from your followers. The only way to kill alot of people is to do it in the name of religion. Then it's not murder it's "the word of god".

The crusades killed more people than Hitler. The inquisition killed more than Stalin. This is not a group I would be proud to belong to.

but the part of 'do good=heaven' is what I was referring to and that does not apply to Christianity
    Thank you sir.
ok, so you don't believe me. So be it. I don't normally post like this because I am a very nice person, but there is so much ignorance in your post above, I'm not going to address any of it.

Actually, she still helps me every day. I sure miss her TWinner. What a wonderful lady!

Explain this more please. Everything I've heard was is you're supposed to be a good person to get into Heaven. Which I think is what he was trying to say in a short and simple way. Are Christians not the ones who believe you can apologize for your sins, accept Jesus, and be forgiven so you're allowed into Heaven? Or lead a good life and not have to do that? You can sin and do whatever you want and still walk through the gates?

no problem PT. It's as simple as John 3:16. We are given the promise of eternal life if we ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ into our heart. There is much more to it than that. My point is that being good doesn't get you to heaven. Hope this clarifies a little.:)

What is this John 3:16 keep seeing everywhere? Seriously... On wrestling, on football players... it's everywhere.

Ok, it's not as simple as "good=heaven", but bad != heaven. And the basic, no frills, no fancy words is "if you want to get in heaven, be good darn it otherwise you're going to HELL!" And that's common to most religions I think. Other than Islam and the whole killing yourself and a bunch of infidels to get 72 virgins thing. And maybe the native cultures with sacrificial practices....

According to the Holy Bible, simply being good on our own terms doesn't get us to heaven.
    Right on Ed!!!

Almost went into the priesthood, I believe firmly in God.

My wife is Muslim and my brother's wife is Jewish. Studied enough to know that each religion has a piece of the puzzle... and most have ego's that don't let them see they don't have the entire picture. Currently meditating about 1 hour a day.

Every once in a while this thread gets messy, but somehow it usually gets back on track. I'm quite impressed actually that there have been as few arguments as there have been. :)
