To be fair, if you're paying your taxes you're probably not included in Billy's rant anyway, since you're probably not on the gov't dole.

Personally, I think the fed and the states give too many handouts to everybody, not just illegals. Welfare abuse is rampant, but none of the politicians want to lose votes by actually overhauling it. Here in Maine our politically-incorrect governor did it, the Dems in the statehouse freaked out and rolled out the usual manure about how 'the cases of welfare abuse aren't as prevalent as people think; it's actually very rare'
But lo and behold, Maine passed a law stating that if you're a non-disabled adult who's on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), you have to either work 20 hours a week, enroll in a vocational training program, or volunteer for 24 hours a month to be eligible. Once that requirement went into effect the number of enrollees dropped from around 12,000 to around 3,000.
Take from it what you will.

I fully support having these programs in place; there's people out there that actually truly need them. But there's a ton of people who are actually just damn lazy bastards who are abusing the system, and I'm not a fan of that.

Definitely agree with your last paragraph. I see that every time I go to my parents' house. Up the road from them there is some public housing, and you see those dudes driving brand new top of the line cars. It's BS is what it is.

Not looking to get political and close the thread or get a "timeout" just venting that I work hard and put in the extra effort and overtime to make ends meet. Alot of these government programs are bullshit, most were never intended to be a career choice.

excise tax on an older Honda probably costs more a year than maintenance on one. Pretty reliable cars at least.

And yes I go case by case on use and abuse of this stuff. I used to know a girl who abused it..pulled cash from the ATM for beer and smokes, then cried to food pantries she had no food for her kids.

 

I said instead of automated toll booths here, require those on welfare to staff them 20 hrs a week. Savings, tens of millions.

I have the same reservations Billy. I have just an OK credit score because I don't finance everything I owe and haven't made poor financial decisions. It blows my mind that if I start being more irresponsible with my money, my credit score would actually improve. Just plain stupid in my opinion.

I HATE excise tax. I buy the vehicle, I pay sales tax, I pay tax on fuel, I pay income tax, I pay tolls on roads oh, but wait there's more, now I get to pay a tax just to own my vehicle... I sold my flat bed trailer because I got sick of it. It wasn't a lot of money but it pissed me off to pay for something that maybe saw 20 miles a year.

 

Been making a stink with Toyota to get the frame replaced. Was on the phone for my lunch break... I'll be talking with a case representative today or tomorrow... Hopefully it goes over well. Me fixing my frame I'll have as a last resort... If I can get the new frame, which I think I should, that would be the most ideal.

 

Hoping the best for you. REALLY hoping they see the light and realize an existing hole in the frame is not a passable condition.

 

Me too man... A truck this young (because it ain't old) shouldn't have any more than a couple tiny surface rust spots.... Or no rust at all, let alone flaking chunks of iron oxide falling from the frame... Wtf
