Hunting

Well four days of hunting camp and 8 deer later I'm done for the season. Drank to much beer to take pics. We got 1 8 point and 7 does. Seen the craziest thing happen. My friend dropped 2 does about 30 feet from each other. we went to drag one closer to the other one, which had the bottom jaw blown off right at the throat, well after 3-5 mins of it laying there bleeding and about 1 gal. of blood later and us deciding if we was going to drag them out or go get the boat. It decided it wasn't dead and jumped up and took off like a bat out of hell. I shot at it and missed. Well needless to say 1 hour of looking for it we couldnt find it. Which I hate not finding something that has been shot. Never seen a deer do that in the 9 years of hunting before this one. The truck looked like a slaughter house before it rained. It was a good time.

 

You drank "too much beer", couldn't locate a jawless, bloody deer? And claim to be a hunter? Stay home and drink your beer. Keep your hung-over, foggy brain there also. Leave hunting to those of us who actually give a damm, hunt with passion, and harvest our kill.

 

Ive actually seen a deer decide to make a run for it after being dragged to the truck and up on the tailgate. Had to get him off the truck and dispatch him a second time.

 

So you have never lost a animal? I'm sure anyone that has been hunting for awhile has lost one at some point in time. 6 guys looking it's not like we just said screw it and let it go. Everytime a shot was fired we went to see if it was hit or not shooting deer on the run you have to and brought in 8 of the nine we shot at that day is pretty good. when you are hunting a river/lake it coulda got in the water and you would never find it when the blood gets washed down stream. And the drinking didn't start till we got back to camp and was getting ready to skin and debone.

 

Owe you an apology for passing judgement on you. Your hunting story didn't 'read' well in my eyes. It's not my place to hammer you...sorry man.

 

what were you aiming for? a headshot?

i took up bowhunting, and have yet to harvest another damn animal. it is so friggen difficult!

i love deer camp. sounds like a good time, except the hangover portion. i try not to drink too much anymore. especially since i picked up the bow...i need my wits about me.

 

This all happened the last day of it. Before that we was just horn hunting. Wasn't going for a head shot we was pushing so it was running and was trying to lead it and that is where it got i hit, don't worry about it lizard, it happens.

 

bowhunting is extremely difficult....took me 3 years with my bow before my first. but.....bowhunting is something,that to me.......rifle and shotgun hunting cant match. its primal man!!

 

I feel the same way, that's probably why I don't care to gun hunt. I know the rewards with a rifle are usually higher, but the excitement of harvesting an animal with a bow is out of this world. Oh by the way, to OP of this thread

 

If you read the first post you would see I didn't get any pics. All i can do is take a pic of the meat in the freezer. or a pic of the rack of my forked horn fro muzzel loader season. I want to try bow hunting. I think that mught be my next thing to buy
