    Hi
Turns out that the gen 2 rear sliding window Mod doesn't translate so well to our gen 1..
Altho it works and looks great for gen 2

I propose a reward fund for the same mod for us

I hear you. I've never been in a DC.

Funny story. I had solid back glass in the Tundra and hated it. Actually told the wife I was going to break it out on purpose.

Had the 5th wheel camper hooked up and was backing it into a camp lot. The lawn chair in the bed got pushed into the window and shattered it. Wife was with me when it happened. She said I did it on purpose.

One the plus side, I ended up with a power slider.

    Yep, assembly was purchased.

The instructions wanted you to screw the power pack to back of the cab. I didn't like that so I made a wood base for it to sit onvthe floor next to the cab back. Works fine. Is fast and quiet.

My Tacoma is the first truck I've owned where I cannot climb through the back sliding window. My 1978 Toyota and F250 I could easily climb through the window. I notice the windows on all trucks are smaller now.

You ain't kidding! You should have seen me trying to unlock my door through the rear window on my DC. I got an arm, a shoulder, and my head through. With the aid of a loooooong screw driver I was about to get it unlocked. Couple things happened that day. I drilled a hole through the exposed portion of the lock that sticks up so I could get a hooked wire through in case it happens again. That and I got stuck. I think some of my scalp was left in the window when I quickly jerked myself out.

I locked myself out of my Tacoma when I first had it, ToyotaCare rescued me. I got a spare key to put in my wallet on the way home.

I locked myself out of my VW bus once. Standing there in my waders with my fly rod, I decide to go fishing and think about ingress. Here's what I did: I untwisted a cable end that was part of the parking boundary, bent 6" back and forth until it broke off from fatigue, then used the cut end of that (hard and chisel edged) to scrape away the bottom on the triangular vent window's pivot hinge. Then I could pop the hinge apart and reach inside far enough, with my average-sized arms, to unlock the door. I popped the hinge back together and left it like that. It worked fine and only I knew how to open it.

On both my Tacoma's I have a spare key stashed. It's quicker.
