I think LA, Anaheim, and Chicago might end up over valuing Ladd. Not because he wouldn't be an excellent pickup. More because they just don't want him to end up on a team that might have a shot against them at getting to the cup finals. In other words, I think if he gets traded the return might include a "so they can't have him", bonus.

 

He is an Ex-Blackhawk and will be a Blackhawk again.

 

The Hawks and Ducks cap space does make them more desirable targets for Winnipeg because then they don't have to eat salary or take back much salary if any.

Not at all. It's like that guy who over pays for any item he believes is in high demand. I've read that a first rounder and top 4 D man offer was turned down. If so the return could be epic for Ladd. Go for the Jets. It's not their fault if someone over pays. With the cap not moving up much affordable rentals could become more valuable over time and this could start of a pattern for the next several years. Look at the returns for rental players traded so far. I'd day costs went up for rentals.
