Interesting, my truck was sold new in VA and spent a lot of time in PA and NC. There's a bit of frame rot in one section only. I see an open recall the spare tire lift plate only, nothing on Toyota's site about the frame when I input my vin.

the frame rust issue wasn't really a recall, it was a program Toyota ran and sent out letters to owners. if the owner didn't get the CRT by a certain date then supposedly you are just screwed.

The truck was taken in and inspected at a Toyota dealer. My service records show that no perforation existed but mentions nothing of any treatment. I called Toyota and they said only certain vins were affected but they would elevate my claim as it was indeed taken in for rust perforation inspection in VA back in 2009.

Joestoy, I haven't used any dealership for this issue. I just noticed the frame holes and this thread and filed a claim with Toyota corporate who seems to think my vin wasn't affected by rust perforation issues.

I will and hope Toyota corporate honors this repair. I spoke to my local dealer and they want me to handle with corporate before bringing it in. It's as if they are scared and/or don't want to be the ones to call it in! What a fiasco.

I own a 2005 Tacoma that was requested to have a frame inspection. I brought it to my local dealer and they found the frame
was rusted through and needed to be replaced. The problem was at the control arm on the drivers side. this is a very critical point.
If the frame failed the vehicle would pull left endangering the driver and on coming traffic. I was totally unaware of this problem until received a letter from Toyota. The dealership has treated me very well.

I got denied. Truck was inspected but original owner didn't have it sprayed by Toyota. He sprayed it himself so it's not covered. I'm screwed

I think mine had a major perforation in that area as well. There was a hole in the frame over a foot long and the dealership wouldn't even let me drive it home so I had to call my wife to come get me.

I have an '04 Tacoma that I recently went to trade in on a 2016, and was told that the frame is badly rusted, and they will not take it in trade. As was the case with many of us, I was never contacted by Toyota about the rust-proofing program that covered these trucks by Toyota Motor Corporation, nor was I told about it when I had the truck at the dealership for service during the time the rust-proofing program was in effect. As has happened with many of us, I am left with an unsaleable truck due to Toyota Motor Corporation's unfair treatment of the owners of Toyota vehicles.

I will not stand still and let them get away with this and neither should you!

If you have been affected as have so many others, then let's use our combined resources to strike back at Toyota. Lets get as many of us together as we can, let's initiate legal action against Toyota Motor Corporation. Let's get the mass media involved. Let's get the Attorneys General in the states where this occurred involved.

If you have been a victim of Toyota Motor Corporation's negligent and unethical treatment of it's customers, then contact me on this site. Together we can make Toyota pay!

Was working on my truck two weeks ago and noticed what looked like salt on the outside of the left frame rail. I Took a closer look at it as I though it was odd that there would still be salt on the frame this far into the year. When I wiped it the frame flaked off in my hand. I pushed on the frame rail and was able to push a finger through in several places.

I called three dealers in my area. The first told me the truck was no longer covered. The 2nd has no clue what I was talking about or at least pretended no to know. The third dealer knew exactly what I was referring to and told me to bring it in right away and said they would make any necessary arrangements if the truck had to stay.

When I got there the service writer met me and explained that they had done a number of frame swaps and they were very familiar with the process.

The service manager and I walked out after they had my truck in the air and took pictures. He called Toyota the next day and started the process. To be proactive I also called Toyota corporate and was told that my truck was covered and I would be contacted within a day with details.

I then called the service manager at the dealer back and gave him the case number. He called me back about 4 hrs later and said he had approval to replace the frame and he was getting the parts in order.

He called me back the next day and said everything was ordered and the frame and parts should arrive in about 6 weeks.
