I have a 2016 TRD Sport, Access Cab, with only 2k miles on it. Purchased in November.

There is a rattle between the windshield and the sunglasses holder / roof hard plastic interface, behind the roof liner / head liner. I can re-produce it just by lightly tapping the soft roof liner material in that 3ish inch section.

Has anyone else had this issue? I was planning on telling the dealer to fix it when i take it in for the an oil change, but have heard horror stories from friends that having the dealer fix a rattle can cause more issues than its worth.

Agreed, I should have mentioned this, it seems temperature dependent, but I am not positive on this. I can only reproduce it by lightly tapping the center of the strip headliner strip between the hard plastic and windsheild, VERY lightly. I guess i am glad i am not the only one?

Was going to say that I have rattles in mine (2nd gen) all the time and it depends on the temp.

Yes mine has started to "buzz" and I have less than 1,000 miles on it. If I push on the headliner a little on the passengerside of the overhead console it sometimes goes away. It's going to the dealer this weekend for the infamous trans problems, and I am going to add this to the list along with the buzzing steering wheel and now buzzing seats. I think its an engine harmonics problem.

Yes, I have the rattle too.

Mine is just aft of the drivers sun-visor near the overhead console.
If I press on the head liner or sun-visor it goes away, albeit temporarily.

Have you guys tried removing the console that holds the map lights and sunglass holder?

The dealer found that there is a wire that is loose and they wrapped some foam tape around it and no more buzzing sound. The tech did not tell me how the console comes off, otherwise I would let everyone know. Tech and I really didn't get along during the test drive. Im easy going, but there was some tension when I mentioned that the seat now has a buzz to it and it correlates to engine rpm. He told me that is normal. I said I was buzz free for the first 141 miles, and it is getting worse. Sorry for the rant

I have the rattling to by the map light and sunglass holder. When I press the headliner around the sunglass holder it goes away.

I have this as well. I find that it is only on cold mornings. Winter always makes vehicles sound different due to things stiffening up. If it does not go away in the summer I'll have them look at that wire.

You can pull the console down easily. It just pulls down, but you have to use a little force. Goes back much easier. I pulled mine down twice to shove some foam between the headliner. No more noise when I push on it.

With my fingers ;). Really though, that's how I did it. Pulled the rear drivers corner first.

I will be doing this soon as well.
mello03, quick question - are the fasteners the round plastic pins with the "fins" on them, or the metal crap over plastic tabs. It will make a diff how I approach this lol.

I would love to know also, I had the dealership "fix" the rattling also, and low and behold it came back with a vengence, and I do not want to take it back. I don't want to break any tabs on the overhead console, especially since it has already been removed by a "certified" mechanic..... I wonder??? Thanks

They are round red push type fasteners with little wings on them. Mine didn't break and I did it twice. I don't think they'll break at all. You guys just need to do it yourself and stop worrying about it
