Dclb with 5100 at 1.75 and 5100 in the rear. Looking to put 265/75r16 which tire provides the best ride in your opinion? I'm leaning towards the ko2s.

ive got the exact same setup but with 10 year old stock shocks in the back, i have a brand new set of duratracs on and couldn't be happier. Great traction all around, have been great in the snow and offroad, no complaints here, no road noise either. ive never ran the ko2s so cant say much about them. ride is great.

If you can get ahold of a set of load range C, I recommend the DuraTrac. I've run the original BFG's and the extra weight was noticeable. Not so much with the DuraTrac.

I had DuraTrac's on my FJ, put the new BFG AT KO2's on my Tacoma. The BFG's seem to be quieter. You won't go wrong with either one. Ride wise I am leaning towards the BFG's as being a better ride but it is really close. The only thing I haven't tried the BFG's on is compact ice. The DuraTrac's were awesome for that.

    265/75 Duratracs, De-Badged, Shorty Antenna,
I've got about 500 miles on my DuraTracs (Load C) on a SSM DCSB SR5 Prerunner and love them so far!

I have them on the Factory suspension and it clears lock to lock no problem. Ride is a bit stiffer but again its a factory setup with +1 tire thats C rated instead of a passanger rated.

Traction is outstanding, I've used them on fire roads/hunting trails... no 'deep mud' yet by choice. A little louder than my factory tires but nothing ridiculous.

I got a RIDICULOUS deal on them $180/tire at the Goodyear shop... installed with 3yr alignment/rotations unlimited mileage was $1035.

Now I am on to saving for a 'leveling' lift.... looking at going 5100s with factory springs set at .85 myself!

I've run both. I think the Duratracs have a smoother ride, but the BFG's are quieter. Duratracs have thin sidewalls compared to the KO2's.

Same setup. Best all around tires i have ever had. Quiet, lots of traction in all conditions and wears well. Next set of tires will be KO2's again, just in 315's.

Happy to see this question. I think I'm torn between the same two tires. I did run the Duratracs on my jeep a few years back. They were C range and road good. Did great in the snow and had the benefit of decent lugs around the side for a little extra mud traction when needed. My only fear of the KO2's is I find many users complaining about stiffness. My head is telling me that the Duratracs have to be a better tire for ride and performance but my heart tells me I want to try the KO2 because I always thought they looked cool....

BFG's come in C load rating also.

I'm torn aswell. Those are my tire option. I think I'm leaning towards Duratracs. Any one have an idea on MPGs. Or both the same. I do allot of Hwy driving so I want good fuel mileage aswell.

If you want to preserve a bit more mpg, stick with C's not E's.

Not in a 265/75/16....at least not yet. Speaking of that anyone have any idea if BFG plans to offer more sizes in C or a D range, specifically this size?

I've had C range Duratracs on for 10k miles now. I'm very pleased. No real vibration issues as some have mentioned. Good road manners considering the aggressiveness of the tread. Absolute beast in the snow. I couldn't get anywhere in 2wd with the stock rugged fails and its amazing what I can run through in 2wd with the dtracs and no weight in a composite bed. Tires also stop really well in the snow, better than any tire I've owned. Rain saturated roads are also no problem with these tires, the only slippage I get is when there is just a very light mist on the road but I think most tires will spin a bit under these conditions.

I noticed a slight bit of a hit in gas mileage etc. with the heavier tire but I believe that an E rated tire would just be overkill on these trucks unless you're doing hardcore off roading. That being said I will probably stick with the duratracs when it comes time for a new set, but I would be willing to give the ko2s a shot if they make a c rated 265/75/16. I really don't want to get rid of my trail teams and get sema wheels or something just to run ko2s in a C.

When I was researching wheels there were only a handful of options for C rated tires (in 265 75r16) -- many more for E rated. When I had the stock 265 70r16 Rugged Fails (which are P rated btw) I was near 19 mpg. Going to C rated duratracs (mixed driving) I'm averaging mid-high 17's. I suspect if I were running E rated tires I'd be down in the 15-16 range.

I think for all but the most hardcore off-roading, C's are the best compromise between robust build and comfort for a daily driver.

You're mileage change is pretty much exactly what I saw when I did the same change. With the rugged trails I would get 19+ highway and 17-18 or so mixed driving. With the C rated duratracs I'm seeing about 16.5-17.5 no matter what kind of driving I do, which leads me to believe my highway numbers took a bigger hit than my city mileage.

I'm going to be swapping out my rims for SCS F5's as I'll be planning a suspension upgrade. The stock TRD OR rims are 22lbs each and the SCS F5's are 18-19 lbs. It'll be interesting to see if there is any appreciable gain back in mpg's after that (which will subsequently be lost from the lift :D)

Yeah that's a good way to level out the MPG hit from the lift. I'm actually mounting my tires on new trail team wheels as soon as the roads clean up and from what I've read they are actually heavier than the stock wheels so I may take even more of a hit. Oh well gas is still cheap and I have beater Honda commuter that's still getting 30 mpg with 225k miles

I have 265/75/16 ko2 e and they're best at I've had for winter traction. A little road noise but nothing severe. I haven't had the truck long but getting around 17 mpg mostly highway. I prefer the sidewall over duratracs and I plan on towing a decent amount so E Is great for me. Should last longer too.
