@shawn_free just tried to put it on the lowest setting and the holes don't even line up. Maybe 1/4 of the screw hole is showing in the picture. After I took the screws back out and look its noticeable that the spacing between holes is different, only the middle two holes actually line up with the cross bar holes. @zscott

that happened to me as well. I took a 5/16 drill bit and ran it through both holes... That made them slightly larger; everything worked perfect after that.

I only had to drill the new style wind defector holes when I got mine in. I guess the older wind deflectors have bigger holes? :notsure:

I just installed mine a couple days ago and never had to drill through the deflector, now we did loosely assemble the rack ON the truck, get everything straight, then tightened everything down.

Not through the wind deflector, its the holes through the side tracks that go into the cross bar that holds the wind deflector. On mine only the middle two actually line up with the screw holes on the cross bar. So basically I can't put it in the highest position or lowest position unless I drill the holes out to widen them.

It's dark out now, but I'm almost 100% positive mine is on the lowest setting, I'll make sure in the morning when I have better light.

I had the same issue. Ended up slotting the hole with a 1/4" endmill in a cordless drill. Here is my before photo.

I think this is a corrupted file that got sent to the laser cutter. I know Zach knows about it, and I assume that he has since corrected the problem.

There was a small batch (5-10) still trying to track down that for some reason, the laser jumped on those holes. I don't know why it happened but I have been watching out for it since and haven't had a problem.

If yours was affected the best thing to do is slightly drill out the bottom two holes to make them fit. As mentioned a 5/16" bit is best. Also if you had the issue get in touch with me via email, and I will get you some free tie down rings, a cargo plate, or some other accessory for the mishap.

All that being said. I did have somebody who emailed me about it and installed the edge trim but left the deflector in the middle setting. He said that this combo eliminated the noise completely.

Sounds good ill send you an email.

I did get edge trim on it but haven't driven it, didn't think that little difference would fix it it but you never know.

So placed my order with the GB: Cabrac and Toprac. The shell I have on now is a "temporary" that will be on for quite some time until I pull the trigger on the color matched/windoor Leer I want.

The shell I have now doesn't have roof rack tracks- so I was thinking of installing them. Few questions:

    1. Would adding tracks help or hurt my resale value?
    2. For a 6' bed what length tracks would be best? 60" ?
    3. Anything cheaper than $100 tracks I've seen from Thule/Yakima?

Yea dude, the tracks you'll need will be smaller than you think so you should measure first. I went with 54" tracks for my short bed topper and they're at least 5" too long so I'm going to shorten them with a cutoff wheel tomorrow when I install them. Zach tried to warn me but I was geeked to get everything lined up and made the purchase while at work before measuring.

Just a few expensive & DIY things...
I will be as soon as it gets installed.
I'll be building my own vs paying stoopid amount of cash for what one can make from a home depot run.
I think the idea of the same plate as the ditch lights is a great start to an idea, but has to withstand the dynamic side load of a branch at speed.

Edit: Reminder these are only really beneficial in certain very specific situations, and I intend to have them removable. Here on the east coast we have trees, unlike you desert dwellers. :crapstorm:
