It is a calcium sulfonate...which is what Spicer grease is.
I'd say good to go; just make sure you purge any old grease completely, for compatibility's sake.
I ended up going with Mystik JT6 #2.

    Hi-temp...

    NLGI Certified GC-LB
These high temperature Lithium Complex greases combine excellent multi-purpose properties with
a high dropping point to give them application over a wide temperature range. Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp
greases exhibit a high Timken OK Load in addition to providing excellent Four-Ball Wear and EP
performance. They provide superior protection to lubricate a wide variety of automotive, agricultural,
trucking, mining, construction, and industrial equipment. They provide outstanding shock load
protection. JT-6 Hi-Temp No. 2 is an extremely versatile performer that is highly recommended for
disc brake wheel bearings and is specifically approved for use in Rockwell and Spicer universal
joints. This grease provides excellent protection for heavily loaded industrial, mining, and construction
applications. JT-6 Hi-Temp No. 1 was developed for applications where service conditions dictate
a grease of softer consistency. Both meet the highest performance categories of ASTM D-4950
Automotive Grease Classification System, GC for wheel bearing service and LB for chassis service.
    • Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp Greases provide excellent protection in severe service requirements such as
disc brake wheel bearings, backhoe hinge pins, and conveyor bearings
    • Mining operations, sand/gravel plants, and construction equipment where shock loads are placed
on bearings benefit from the use of Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp Greases

    I found it at O'Reilly's.

I see people on here always talking about replacing U-joints.... How do you Know if they're bad? Besides a vibration feeling?

Is there something I can put my hands on and check?

Edit. Just saw this is 3rd gen. But question still stands

I greased mine last night. I have only 220 miles on my TRD Off-Road M/T.

The front driveshaft zerks had a red grease purge out of them after a few pumps.

The three rear driveshaft zerks had no discernible grease purge until the grease I was adding appeared! I'm glad I did this after seeing that on the rear driveshaft!

Also had to give the U bolts about 1/2 a turn to get to 52 ft-lbs.

I didn't know U-Joints have grease fitting any more. My 2012 and 2014 MusTang GT didn't have grease fittings on the U-Joints from the factory or front end. Good to know. When My Truck arrives that will be one of the things I will check.

some do some dont...Me personally I like the ones with fittings so I can grease them. Otherwise you end up having to change them at some point...depending on driving conditions...

    Great stuff @splitbolt

Do you know the torque value and which bolts the owner's manuals are talking about when they discuss torquing the propeller shaft bolts?

The maintenance log language is "Re-torque propeller shaft bolt."

Obviously I missed the comment somewhere. I crawled under mine and no zerks. Not 4WD. 16 DCL 2x4.

My used 2010 TRD OR had to have the driveshaft replaced at 106,000 miles due to the "U-Bolts coming loose." Not sure if that was due to a lack of grease or not, but this thread makes me think it was. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty when I bought the truck at 89,000 miles.

I heard the service advisor say u-bolts, but maybe he meant u-joints? Not sure. My truck was vibrating when accelerating.

I would've eaten that guy alive for a comment like that. As a shop foreman, he should be the first to know that 4x4 Tacos have u-joints that can/must be greased...... or maybe he could't care less about his career and customers.
