I have winter tires on steel rims with-out TPS in them. If I start my truck in the drive way it will pick up the signal from my summers in the garage and reset the system, but after 20 minutes of driving the TPS light will flash for a few minutes then goes solid.
I hope this helps, and my 2008 doesn't have a TPS sensor in the spare.

Just asking to make sure. You verified this how. If it has the rubber stem and not the metal one it must be a Canada thing perhaps?

So, when really friggin cold, like it is here in OR, the TPMS will come on until the tire warms enough to build pressure?

Past two mornings, I start the truck, and TPMS is on solid. Later in the day, not on.

Mine never heated up enough to reset but it doesn't get as cold here.

mine always blinks when I get out of signal range, only goes solid if the tire pressure is down.

Still trying to figure this out,
Sensors are in my winter rims/tires in the garage. Spare tire has a sensor fwiw.
I can drive 20 miles or so from home & get no light, hang out at a friend's house for a few hours, go to leave and still no light.
I can go to work 15+ miles away, park & work for 9 hrs. Still no light.
But if I go keep driving straight through, say on a trip to Maine, eventually along the way the light triggers and blinks until I return home.

I realize the sensors work on some type of radio signal but is it like a cordless phone and a base?
Once out of range, the signal drops?
Some folks do not believe the range of the sensors, but time after time again I get results like this.
Just wondering if someone knows for sure how this setup works.

sorry to the op hope you get your problem figured out. :)

I had no idea what that light was until now:eek:

It just came on today after I had driven on the highway for 35 minutes. Got back in the truck after sitting for 15 min. and that light was on.
Today was the first cold day of the year (-19 celsius). I'll have to take a closer look tomorrow, the tires don't look too bad after a visual inspection.
It could very well be the spare, I filled the other 4 about 2 weeks ago but haven't checked the spare in ages.

I've figured that mine is the spare tire. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get this spare tire mounted up under the truck again.
