2011 double cab long bed 275 70 17 on fj stock rims Tag steel front bumper no winch. I have a OME 3" lift with dakars 886 coilovers in the front LR UCAs diff drop sway bar relocate. Been on the truck for about 2yr.

I have been riding with this lift for over two years now and hadn't noticed the rough ride until others started complaining when they rode in the truck. I can feel every bump in the road and serious down travel when going over a pot hole or speed bump. Literally EVERY BUMP. It feels like the coils are to high sprung. Would switching to 885s help? Has anyone else tried this or had this problem? If so what was your remedy? What problems would I run into? Does anyone have a suggestion on a better coil over setup?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

886 coils were designed to be used with a plate bumper and winch, if you don't have either your quality of ride will be total shit.

Coil selection will depend on what lift you are wanting and what truck you have, I'll assume you have a 4x4.

884, 885, 887 coils all have the same spring rate (590 lbs) and are all rated significantly less then the 886 coils (rated 660 lbs). So yes the ride will be better if swapping those out.

yes its a 4x4 I forgot to put that in there, and I have a tag bumper on the front. I have been looking at the 885s, what is with the 887s can you shed any light on them?

True or false, the coil overs that I have I can take off and separate the 886s from them. And reassemble them with 885s and re install them on the truck?

Too poor to list anything interesting.
    On my 886s, I have:
    Front plate bumper
    Winch
    IFS & mid skid

    Handles great.

I see your TAG bumper weight is 110-140lbs. Your issue is not enough weight up front.

If you were local, I'd sell you my old 885s for $25. Lol

There's people always looking up upgrade from 885 to 886. Should be easy to find for a trade. Post on your region's trade/sale thread.

If I'm reading this right, you're saying the ride has got WORSE? How many miles on what kind of shocks? Shocks go bad gradually with miles and wear. 886's are a good bit stiffer than 885's and even 887's...(Those two same rate, just 887's LONGER) You might benefit with lighter spring rate, AND you might benefit by new shocks....886's will wear out a shock with it's stiff rate.....wears out the rebound dampening quicker than a lighter rate spring. Worn rebound dampening will cause a "jackhammer" effect on rough roads.

The 887s may be another good option for downgrading.

The 887s are like the 885s, in regard to spring rate. Except the 887s have a longer spring.

Thanks for that info, yeah I don't wanna loose my lift in the front by going down 885s, can anyone speak from experience on 887s?

Come on now, just trying to figure the best way. What would be the difference in running 885s vs 887s. Being that the 887s are longer will they still be able to go on the shock setup that I already have with the 886s?
