Truck is in for the replacement. I asked about the 28 plug kit that is apparently supposed to be part of the replacement (at least in the U.S.) nobody knew what I was talking about. Trying to track down a Toyota part number for the kit to see if it's going to be used.

Hey folks. Apologies for no update after getting the truck back - other life stuff got in the way. Truck runs great and rides super! No issues so far. Repair bill to head office was just over $14k...

FYI, I asked the dealership for a set of the frame plugs. They don't spray the new frames, but after 3 or 4 polite requests they gave me a set of the plugs for free. Was told they don't come under a separate Toyota part #, only as part of the spray kit they apply to "passed" frames, and so can't order or sell them. Will have them installed after I get sprayed underneath.

hey How was dealing with wayne toyota? I'm waiting on my frame but I have a 3 inch OME lift and they told me they have to return it to stock. I wonder if that means they make me buy new coilovers?

I apologize for not reading through all of this thread, but unfortunately pressed for time and would like to confirm one thing.

My frame should be passing inspection without any issues as far as I can tell. My question is, once passed and CRC applied, does Toyota warranty the frame after the application? Or if frame is replaced, does Toyota warranty the frame after for several years? I seem to recall this was the case on 1st gen frame replacements, at least in the US. If I'm not mistaken for 15 years at a time. I understand this is Canada and a separate recall. It does not indicate either on the letter from Toyota, but want to make sure.

The only one to get something in writing on the warranty in this thread seems to be Scooter.

I asked at the dealer and got the same answer other have, 15 years from date of manufacture. It's only verbal though so might not mean anything.

I went ahead and got mine sprayed, just in case it matters for a warranty. My intention is to keep on with the Krown rust proofing as well, since the toyota stuff is only done on the frame anyway. Hope the two products like each other!

That is the reason I'm asking. I've repainted my frame (as much as I was able to) in fall of 2013 with Rust Bullet and did Krown rust proofing in spring of 2014 and 2015 and planning to go again in 2016 and so on. When I asked at the dealer over a year ago when I first got the letter from Toyota (of course this was just a few months after I did my frame in the garage) the service writer looked at me as if I fell off a tree when I asked him about warranty. Just wanted to check if anybody got any different answer.

I will ask again and try to get in in writing, but if I can't I'm planning to stick with my annual Krown rust proofing and skip their rust treatment. Hopefully not a mistake as I want this truck another 10 years. Krown seems to work quite well for me so far.

Took my truck in to have the frame inspected on Wednesday. After clearing inspection Wednesday it was treated and kept inside to cure overnight. I picked it up the next day(today).

The frame looks great! The coating is dry, not sticky as many have spoken of. Here are some pics

I thought the coating never really cures, but yours is dry? Does that mean it can potentially crack and water enter under the coating? Does it look like they sprayed inside the frame as well or just the easily accessible visible parts and main frame rails? I'm assuming they could not access under the engine and engine mounts area and those parts of the frame rails are not coated?

I have not crawled underneath to check every nook and cranny, but from what i can see they did a thorough job on both the inside and outside of the frame. I assume they got behind the engine mount area(is that not where most of the perforations have been found). They have inspected and treated many frames.

Yes the treatment is dry to the touch. The truck wasleft indoors overnight to allow the stuff to cure. Time will tell if the stuff cracks.

Hey sorry about that...I've been offline for a bit. Wayne Toyota was good - they were pretty optimistic I think in getting it done in 2 days (car rental guy said he hadn't seen a single one done that quickly...rental was usually extended) and they found a few things I needed to change out. Labour on those extras was very little. Saved me a bundle. I had a 2" lift on mine that they wouldn't reinstall, but I put in new Bilstein 5100s anyway that I supplied. Met the guys doing the job - the advisor brought me in the back. Seemed like good guys who knew what they were talking about.

Since getting it back the truck drives amazing - like new. Suspension seems to be settling in more now.

You could always pick up some stock coils off of Kijiji. There were some locally a few weeks ago for cheap. Put your own stuff back in later?

HI so some clarification on the rust proofing from T dealers. Is is just the inside of the frame or inside doors wheel wells etc.
I"m picking up my new truck in a few days and wonder if I should go Krown ($150ish) and have to redo every year or the one time application from the dealer $399. any comments on this appreciated

When my frame was replaced in early January, I asked if purchasing the rust protection that they are doing on "passed" frames was possible. They said no. Service Advisor said it had to do with the rust protection application not be a billable item in their system or something like that. I asked around and got lots of different opinions on aftermarket spray application products (Rust Check, Krown, etc.). I've had lots of recommendations for an environmentally friendly fluid film product a local place applies. Might give it a try.

That's straight out of the Toyota TSB, get your frame inspected and undercoated by a dealership by dec 31 of this year and your frame will be covered for 15 years from manufacture date. Don't and you're S.O.L.

    Thanks for this!

Do you have a copy/link to the TSB so that I can bring it with me for the inspection?
