Opened up LR6 tonight. Imported, and developed a grand total of two pictures. Then, "program not responding". Forced quit. Tried about 7 more times and it would 'not respond". Couldn't even get it to open. WTF? This is exasperating. So bummed.

I'm having issues too actually. First time. LR or my SD card won't show any of my current photos on the card to import them. Only old ones.

Both of you running Windows 10? Heard of a lot of people having problems when they upgrade to 10 with stuff not working. I'm still on LR 4 on a mac and no problems with it.

Did a little research that said LR 6.1 addressed this. Is your Lr up to date on it's updates?

Are you getting a blue screen with a cross on it?

Are you using a low end AMD graphics card?

Try switching off Use Graphic Processor in the LR preferences.

I have the Radeon 5200 HD. And I downloaded LR right off the adobe sight. Shouldn't that be the most recent iteration? No Blue Screen. Just the initial LR page, upon opening, but the blue circle never stops spinning.

    Issue

You're using an AMD/ATI graphics card on 64-bit Windows with the AMD Catalyst 15.7 driver, and Lightroom CC/Lightroom 6 crashes or freezes during launch or when you edit an image in the Develop module.

This issue can occur when using AMD Radeon HD 5xxx to 8xxx Series graphics cards running driver versions 14.501.1003, 14.502.1014, and 15.200.1062.1004.

Lovely. And me with the Radeon 5200 HD. sheesh. Nice of the 'Chat" tech to let me know when I told him this was the card I had.

And AMD does not support my card anymore. sheesh. My card used to be quite good. Guess it's been longer than I thought , since I bought that card. Time for a new card....

    The new question. Which card?

Can't help you there. I haven't messed with a windows box in 5 years.

Do they have a list of approved cards?

    Nice.

So, I'm finally diving in and learning PS to supplement my LR use.

Which I suppose means once the 30 day trial is up I'll have to get CC. Ha lame.

Also, are there any professional photographers in the house, as in you've filed as a business and do your taxes as such, etc? If so I have a few questions for ya?

Took the laptop by the Apple dealer here today and went from 4 gigs of ram to 16 gigs. Wow, what a difference with LR and PS. Highly recommended, that is all.

I had a few inquiries about this photo so I thought I'd do a write up to show how I did it and maybe some other's could learn something from it.

    The end result:

The setup involved a few things.

A 150 ws monolight set at full power (Could have used more power on this but this is all I had)

A Speedlight also at full power with the wide angle diffuser down (this also cut some of the power with the diffuser)

RF remote to trigger the camera (wrapped around the lens, normally mounts on the hotshoe) Trigger with me in truck
RF wireless flash trigger x 1 (on monolight) and 1 transmitter (on hotshot of camera)
I used the slave function on the speed light to trigger it

Camera trigger remote on left and flash trigger on right.

Camera setup with flash transmitter and camera shutter receiver.

Flashes mounted on light stands facing direction I was driving past. Camera on tripod in the middle.

View from where the ambulance was when the flashes went off.

Camera was set to 10-15 second exposure with rear curtain sync turned on for the flashes. Basically this means the shutter opens for 10-15 seconds and at the end of the capture the flashes are triggered by the camera to fire and freeze the truck from movement right before the shutter closes. If there was more flash power then the front wheels wouldn't look like a ghost. Kind of hard to light something this big with small flashes.

Key point to self. When you have been out taking photo's and bracketing your exposure remember to turn that off before trying something like this. I'd start driving and all of a sudden the flashes would go off early. The they would go off right. Then they would go off after I had passed by. Also use as wide angle lens as you have so you have more room to work with and can crop the photo to what you want.

Hope I explained this easy enough but I'll be glad to answer any questions about it if I didn't. Hope someone else tries this and posts it up. It was a fun photo to take.

    Thanks!

That last photo is also a photographer's nightmare with the 3 different white balance's of lighting in it. lol
