Broke the steering shaft on my tractor again over Valentine's day weekend. I just replaced it last summer and I could have sworn that when I bought the replacement that it had a 1 year warranty. According to the service rep that I emailed on Monday the part's only warranteed for 6 months and the warranty expired on the 12th. I broke the shaft on the 13th and they won't cover it. WTF. I ordered it on 8/10 and received it on 8/14. So it was in service for less than 6 months, for light-duty homeowner use, and they won't cover it.
Going to be doing some rummaging for the original paperwork when I get home, because I'm 95% sure that the warranty sheet I got when I bought it said 1 year.

SO if any of you ever own a tractor and break something on it, don't buy anything from Kumar Brothers for the replacement.

 

Damn that's lame. Never heard of a 6 month warranty, I would think 1 year would be standard.

 

I'm especially suspicious because 1 year immediately popped into my head when I felt it go *POP* the other day. I must have gotten it somewhere, so I'm doing some research when I get home.

 

So what are you guys up to this weekend? Anybody want to drive to Ohio and kick the crap out of some parts dealers?

$134. A company called PUTCO. Plug and play, no fan to get gummed up. I am actually really pleased with how they work in the EOM reflectors.

Being a noob to this sort of stuff, and because I got LEDs that have fans on them for the heads lights... I thought the fans were necessary because of the amount of heat that the bulb generates... no?!?!

 

There's very little spillage, and they're stupid bright.

 

No doubt, these kick off some heat. Putco uses four braided cables as a heat sink. There's plenty of air movement and their heat sink has a good deal of surface area. We'll see how long they last

Did you look at 5 Star Tuning also? Apparently they do a good job tuning the Ferd. I'm caught up on the warranty issue also. Especially since I paid for the extended bumper to bumper warranty. The 5.0 tune is supposed to improve the shifting strategies, make them more predictable and I guess a lot of people prefer the new program for that alone. The other tune I want is for towing. I saw a video of the 5.0L making short work of some long, steep grades towing heavy loads.

5Star will actually see you their own powertrain warranty for an extra $5-600. I'm sure that would become a pissing match between the Ford and 5Star if there ever was a real issue, with you and your dead truck stuck in the middle but it's pretty neat that they even offer it.
