It's been a lot of years since I've had a system in my vehicle and it seems that things have changed a bunch. I've got a 2012 regular cab 4x4 and the setup that was suggested to me at my local audio shop was:

    Alpine CDE-W265BT (2 din HU)
    Alpine SPR-60c (door speakers)
    Memphis PRX 450 (amp)
    Kicker 10" comp R
(Sub in a ground shaker box behind passenger seat)

From what I understand the 4 channel amp will power the 2 sets of door speakers and then the last 2 channels will be bridged to power the single sub.

Is there anything in this set up that you guys would have concerns about? Anything components you would use instead?

    Thank you for the help!!!

I have no experience with the listed components, but would go for an amp that better matches the speakers and sub power ratings. Those speakers are rated at 110 watts rms per side and the sub is 400 watt rms. Here's an example of something closer to the recommended ratings.

No experience with that particular amp, just wanted to give you an idea.

They config they have suggested is a "3-channel" config. That is a good setup for a Tacoma. Upgrade the speakers in the front doors, amp them, and then bridge 2 channels of the amp into a subwoofer. It's what I have done for my setup and it is decent, space-efficant , and cheap.

The amp dmb1650 suggested is a great amp too, probably better than the Memphis one.

Really it's all about your ears. However the back bone is a quality amp. I am a audiophile so I go further than most on my own personal projects.

Alpine pdx-v9. Nominally a bit more than what you have listed. You get a 4 channel amp and a mono block 500 watt sub channel, in the same amp. This reduces multiple amps multiple wiring kits etc. I highly recommend stinger wiring with a circuit breaker. Quality wiring will omit unwanted noise and slack in the system.

    I recommend the following components

    1. Alpine - type r components

    2. Image dynamics - Claurs

    3. Focal - any series you can afford.

    Sub:
Jl - they are a sub company that's were they started they are amazing.( I personally run two alpine type r's 8" under my seat. )
    Image dynamics - quality sub

Arc audio - another great option

I would sound deaden your doors and roof before you do anything. I think you will be surprised how the stock speakers perform. $200 mod. Start there then upgrade. If you wanted to do a budget install you could put. $100 coxail in the doors with sound deadener and it will be even better than stock. No amp needed.

Sorry for typos. Hope this helps direct so you don't feel like you wasted money. I say but a system you can build on. Buy nice (quality) or buy twice.

I would go with a Kenwood Excelon headunit.

Just a little follow up. I ended up with the set up originally mentioned except I swapped out the Memphis for a 1400 watt DB drive 3 channel amp. I'm super happy with the way it turned out. To my noob ears it sounds super balanced and really good when tuned properly but also has the ability to shake the earth and be really loud when that's what I'm looking for. The alpine app and the ability to download custom turnings for your specific vehicle and genre preferences is easy to use and pretty awesome. Thank you for the help and advice, much appreciated.

Alpine does make a good head unit. I got a Clarion for mine :\. I put an Alpine in my brother's pickup at the same time and I think that head unit is much better. Nice call on running 3 channel with one amp. Plenty of bass for your taste?

But the one I've really got my eye on is the Pioneer DEH-80PRS. That unit looks fantastic, but it's a bit long in the tooth and doesn't play FLAC.
