Mostly because a 63 k Ram (you could put Ford and GM in a similar message) is not worth 63 k. It's sold somewhere between 48 k - 53 k in Canada depending on the area. Toyotas truck model has always been to sell for close to MSRP and only supply to demand to keep the value to both themselves and the consumer there. If new entries to the market finally force the Tacoma into a situation where Toyota can't get that premium on a number of units they need to sell hopefully Toyota will drop the price. Right now the Tacoma is having a record year though so it's a no brained why the price and interest rate is holding where it is.

It's interesting to note too that GM is not sewering the Colorado price either by over producing. If Ford follows suit it could become the norm in the midsized market to not receive full sized type discounts or interest rates.

He's Canadian like me. Due to our more secure banking system it's rare for a traditional bank auto loan to have a rate lower than the auto manufactures financing arm on a new car.

I'm guessing you are in 2 different countries hence the difference in rates.

Look at your debt to GDP ratio and compare it to Canada - then let's talk. You guys can't print money forever down there.

We just prefer not to have to bail out our banks every few years. If you like tax payer dollars ending up in the pockets of billionaires to cover their own poor decisions than more power to you to love that. Personally, I'm all for tighter bank regulations that have proven to keep Canadian banks successful even during tough economic times. :canada:

LMAO.... dudes, you don't need to get all friggin defensive for God's sake (you boys up there do believe in God dontcha?). This country is well and screwed up but it's from overspending which is not a conservative ideal. Unfortunately the republicans in this country are just as spend crazy as the democrats. The US debt WILL be the downfall of America... (which has been more than doubled in the time Obama has been in office).

My jab is at this country not yours, but at the same time don't go pretending all is peachy in Canada... it ain't perfect anywhere, there are always trade off in life.

Normally I would disagree with you and say Canada is perfect but we are responsible for these douche's so my original statement no longer applies.

I am at 1400 on my 2WD doublecab. 9 miles to work. 5 miles 60 MPH highway. 4 miles stop and go traffic. 17-18 MPG on every tank of gas.

Stop and go traffic KILLS mileage on my Taco.... if you want good gas mileage change the screen in your instrument panel to the MPG bar and work it. It's painful but being strategic and settling for slower driving you can get results. Not was I thought I was buying though....

I would not say well below but close to it. Ford and GM knock off 3x what Toyota does on a Tacoma and 2x what they do on Tundras. I think the prices of new trucks will continue to go up as they add stupid features like LED lights on the front. Vehicle prices are already too high with all the stuff they have added in the last 10 years.

^^ This. Just put the MPG bar below the digital tac and it helps keep you mindful of it. I'm lucky and have a very flat ~50mph commute to work, averaging around 24mpg with tank MPG around 21.
