I have a ton of photos, but I'll try to keep them to aircraft I've flown or flown with, since anyone can pull from the interwebs.

I used to be sole owner of mine. The method you said above is pretty much the norm...tho I've seen some where you contribute so much per flight hour.

Flying private charter, which is my job, is an attainable goal for sure. Flying for a sports team really depends on who you meet, who you know, and where you are at in your career. A lot of sports teams charter full size airliners. The Golden State Warriors, Oakland A's, and the Oakland Raiders all walk through the jet center that I am based at and jump on a Delta Airbus, sometimes it's a United Boeing 757. But the airlines charter those planes specifically the teams. Other teams like the NY, Yankees have some of their own jets.

To become a charter pilot, you need to get your Private Pilot's certificate, then your Instrument Rating, then your Single Engine and Multi Engine Commercial Certificate, then become a flight instructor. Work as an instructor to build hours, and experience and then many people apply for a small cargo operator like Ameriflight (http://w3.ameriflight.com). Build your pilot in command turbine time, and you are all set you apply for a charter company. In all reality it takes 3-5 years.

But there are always people that meets someone along the way and gets lucky with a job offer that helps you avoid some of the steps.

It's a hobby. I work in aviation as a career as well but, did not and could not charge people.

I was interested in getting my ticket and after getting a few hours (and paying out the ass for it) I decided it was cheaper to buy an airplane than rent one. I did my search and found one that was under TBO with no outstanding or serious recurring A.D.s...did my own look see with a IA buddy and did it. As it turned out, I got a deal on it.

    Good deal. Pretty close.

    First two are GE90-110 off and on-wing (777F), third is DC/MD10-10 & 4th a Rolls powered 757.

Flight instructing is definitely not for everyone!!

There are lots of other cool jobs you can get to build time. Aerial surveying or photography, banner towing (usually requires a tailwheel endorsement), Civil Air Patrol, Angle Flight (fly sick patients, rescued animals, etc.),
