We use the 110k thrust on our 777. It's a beast.

Don't own either of the two fun makers. Just have a really generous friend who is practically insulted if I don't use them.

As a kid growing up, my Dad had a friend who flew just as hobby and it was very cool.
Indeed ! At least you have a career in something you love !

Justin I just did some poking around and I'm suprised how much flying 498GB gets... I've always been under the impression corprate/charter stuff wasn't utilized much.

I just pulled these statistics off FAA.gov. Out of the nearly 600,000 pilots in america, there are only 15,000 helicopter pilots.

Now even though it doesn't say it on the chart, I would say that nearly all of those helicopter pilots are working pilots. Most of them came from the military and are now flying for the police, medical, tourist, and news industries.

If you can afford to get all of your helicopter training privately, you can get a job. Easiest way is to join the military and then get a job afterwards.

I fly roughly 5-6 days a week all for private charter. At one time it may have been under utilized, but it's a hopping business now for sure.

If I could afford to fly that way I would. Just tired of being treated like cattle at the airport...

    Fact.

I used to love to fly and having worked at a few majors (UA ect) travel was easy and cheap. Now, I just buy a ticket and take my beating...I've recently been traveling with Amtrak...so much nicer (if you have time).

Interesting you mention this, a friend of the family is training on the job for Sherriff (think he is on watch right now, but a minimum of three in the copter go out -think that's what he said) although he never had military experience ..lucky but guy paid his dues been in law enforcement for over twenty years.
