What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Battery is good. Any ignition systems upgrade?

 

Could get new coil pack wires. I've heard that helps a bit. Could check the coil packs themselves. Plugs of course.

Check your air filter too. My truck always takes a bit longer to start up when the paper filter is just too plugged.

Edit: Its probably time to clean the filter, but I'm sure the starter needs refurbished.

 

Did someone say starter rebuild? I just finished replacing contacts and plunger.

 

This week on what broke on the 1st gen.... Anyone have this problem before? Checked the fuses under the hood and they're fine. I assume bulb is burnt? Not looking forward to taking the dash off if that's the case.

 

Cut the alignment tabs for the passenger side off today, first time I've cut something from the factory off of her.

 

Like Ben said it's really not that bad of a job. Just need a screw driver and rachet/socket set and bulbs

I've got one of those too, just haven't gotten around to fixing it. One word of advice: While you have the dash apart, just replace all of them. If one of them is gone, the rest aren't very far behind.

 

Or just smack the dash. Brings mine back on..usually..lol

 

I used to do that in my ranger til the smack stopped doing thentrick. Then I just lived with the light that was burned out.

I think im goin white led when I swap in my 04 cluster to my 2000! Blue looks pretty good too! Easy on the eyes.

 

I was surprised and impressed by how much quicker and stronger my started felt when I upgrade to a larger, higher capacity battery. Its a group 24F and still fits like it belongs in the stock location.

I had previously upgrade the alt to a 140 amp GM. Still, the simple battery upgrade made it start quicker and feel stronger.
