Really? I thought my white DCSB seems glossy so I be surprised if it has no clear coat. I had 4 superwhite Tacomas, 2006, 09, 15 and 16. At the dealer, Toyota has superwhite touch up paint pen, it has paint on one end and clear on the other end. If it really has no clear then I better put on some good wax on my truck.

If you google it you will find that Toyota Super White paint is single stage without a clear coat. I had this color on my 2006 4runner and the body shop confirmed it. I'm assuming it is the same Super White on these new Tacoma's. just wanted to make sure.

would not surprise me if white really does not need a clear coat to hold up as well as the other colors over time with a clear coat. The white paint will degrade way slower than any other color. I am loving my new white one... wouldnt have any other color

It is single stage but there is clear coat is mixed in with the paint.
Which means it take more care, IE a quality coat of wax at all times at a minimum.

Mhhm....no sh*t? I did not know that. I like white cause its easy to touch up the rock chips and deep straches. I just wet sand it, spray touch up paint, wait 3 days or a week so it fully hardens, wet sand, buff with rubbing compound then polish. Ta da looks like it never happened. I don't think it's as easy doing that on other colors but I haven't tried.

I've been debating on the soft top or bed tent for camping in the back. Would you recommend it for sleeping or should I go with a bed tent? How hard is it to take down and put back up?

no way. white is by far the most robust paint. Mostly due to the extreme difference in temperature it experiences during its life compared to any other color. put your hand on a dark car and a white car in the sun, there is easily a 20 degree difference on day that is not even that hot out. i've seen white hold up far better than other colors with no wax at all

Sometimes I don't wash my truck for awhile and it still looks clean. Black shows everything. IMO, a white truck is a great color for a company truck for business /side jobs and I don't think white draw too much attention, not too flashy. Just clean n simple.

White is the hardest paint, usually sue to the zinc used for the color. It holds up better but starts to flake after a long time

Hum. Interesting. How many years before it starts to flake. I've noticed the paint in my 87 Toyota sucked compared to say one if my later tacomas. It seems to get better and better. At least I hope the 2016 holds up well.

I had a white 09, kept it outside all time time, had a good wax put on at least o.nce a year sometimes twice. I never had any issue with the paint all. I just bought a 16 dbl cab white, it's a neutral color that goes with just about anything. If there was a paint issue, seems like Toyota would let us customers know.
