    Yeah, I'm a little hungry but I'd still like to know who on here went with the pizza cutter look on their tires? I see the wide stance is most favored on here but someone has to like those thin ones too. Oh, and post pics if you can.

    33x10.5... which I think looks pretty good on the narrow first gen.

    I ran 255/85/16 BFG Mud Terrains in the snow. Worked perfectly. Way better then the BFG all terrains.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    We're they siped. I came from Michelin LTXs which did great in snow and now I have BFG ATs and they do well too.

    I used to live not to far from Lake Smells'more, you guys getting good whether for boating? :)

    No they weren't. They weren't great on ice but were great in the snow. Just had them in flagstaff AZ after the huge snow storm they had and they did great. And were great in Sedona mud mixed with some snow lol.

    And weather, sure it's great for boating. I'm not a fan of green water though so have never been on the lake :thumbsup:

    I'm a 2nd gen, but 255/75R17 here. Put on 1.25" spacers to widen the stance a bit.

    235's BFG AT's here on TRD 16" rims. No issues thus far. Really like them. 5,000 on them so far.

    There are disadvantages in having 'pizza cutters'.
    However there are many advantages of narrower tires :
    - less rolling resistance (better mpg)
    - less weight (better mpg and easier to handle during rotations, etc)
    - less road noise on the highway
    - tire rubbing almost never an issue
    - when rock-crawling, they will stuff higher into the wheel well when flexing (unless you have spacers )

    Additionally, a narrow tire makes a better spare when mounted in the stock location.
    A full width spare will worsen your 'departure angle' and hang up on rocks.
    I carried a 33-9.50 for a spare for many years in my 1st-gen 4runner

    I would add that the steering feel is more accurate with narrower tires. I've driven several 1st gens with 33x12.5s and 285/75s and they just don't have the quick turn in response I like. In racing terminology, the wider tires seem to "push" into the turns.

    I had 32x11.5 mud tires (goodyear mtr Kevlar). Just switched to some 33x10.5 all terrain ko2. Made a world of difference. So much more quiet, handles better, tracks better, more power. Wish I would have gotten them in the fist place.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Terrain you normally use the truck in matters.

    Wide(r) is good on beaches and/or sugar sand. Sometimes for certain types of mud, where a bit of floatation action helps.

    Narrow, as listed above, is better for most other stuff. Including snow.

    Since the OP is a Reno resident, I doubt there's much surf fishing going on, so narrow would be the choice.

    I have 255 85 16 km2s(suck in snow) and 33 9.5 swampers (weekend warrior, race set) . I've always preferred tall n skinny even on my 79 f250s, they just dig better. I was debating a wide set for deep snow wheeling but having 3 sets of wheels already in garage my honey would flip OUT !
