Started my ER night shift with a packed ER and a EMS run bringing in a "car VS snowmobile" accident victim....... Care to guess who won that one? FML, that was a mess.

 

Sorry to hear that, that sucks. The beginning of the week here in the ER was crazy, but has since calmed down. Still have lots of routines and other stuff that could honestly have been done at an urgent care center.

 

75% of the time when we're "busy" on midnights in our ER we see that kind of shit.... our "regulars" so to speak, but the last couple weeks when were busy its been legitimate "oh shit! you're sick" kind of patients. It's been a VERY slow year for bad Snowmobile wrecks here in the facility I work in the western U.P. I believe last year this time we already had 15+ snowmobile related deaths/paralizations come through our facility alone.

 

ER always seems to be busy. I could hear med-flight landing around 4:30am. I don't know what they were bringing in, but it's usually not anything good.
Everything was working good so I got a lot of back burner type of jobs done

I hate 12 hour shifts. For our holidays we have to do them, but I would much rather just do 8 and go home.

 

I work 6 days in a row (midnight 12's) and have 8 days off in a row. Wouldn't trade this schedule for anything
