Mid Travel BS 2.0

This, I've seen @AaronArf wheel enough that I couldn't justify ~5-7k for just a couple inches. 3.5 or mid-travel.

 

Or SAS of course...

 

Oh boy here we go again with the big scary inflate dollar amounts...if you are going to compare stock length costs to +2 or LT at least do the math right. If you are building a nice front end even with a stock length set up you are buying UCA's and LCA's, CO's, tabs blah blah blah etc the only additional parts cost with a +2 or +3.5 is for extended axles.

 

He's already mid-travel, so he's buying everything over.

 

Been there and debated all that. Wasn't worth the $$$ IMO.

 

The O in IMO is " opinion "....so, IMO it was very worth the investment and I recouped a lot of $ by selling my old mid travel stuff.

 

I don't mind spending the cash if it's worth it. I think I could sell my front for a decent amount it's only been on 10,000km. Just needed some more opinions on it from people who have had both or seen both. But seems like fine tuning my mid travel might be the better option?

 

Agreed, it's an opinion. Just throwing my $.02 out there.

 

@Evenflow are you running a 3.5 or a 2+ kit??

 

Since he already has UCA and coil overs I'd also recommend to stay mid travel. Replace the LCA and fine tune your set up!

Or go 3.5....

 

Do you like your 2+? Or do you wish you would have gone to a 3.5?

 

From what I've read, you're going to spend that tuning money if you go LT, and want to get the value out of it. You're also replacing a bunch of stuff you've already moded once.

If money were no issue, and I knew a wider truck would fit where I wanted to go, I'd probably go LT. But that opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it

 

I love my +2, it really does perform great. I was essentially starting from scratch coming from a drop bracket lift so that's what pushed me to just go +2. I had to buy UCA, coil overs and stuff anyways and planned on doing LCA's so the cost difference didn't seem like much.

That being said, there is a $2-3k price difference and other things to consider - longer CV axles, a more involved install, required trimming/cutting and the need to also carry spare +2 CV axles (600 for 2 shafts, and you need oem CV's as donors at $330 a pop/new) because you just can't go to autozone and get one to get you home. The labor differences alone would be pretty hefty if you didn't do the work yourself.

+3.5" LT is way too wide for the trails I find myself on, even in Moab one of the +3.5 guys had some width issues and its pretty wide open.\

As mentioned numerous times before, a suspension is as only as good as the shocks valving for that particular setup, terrain and drivers style. No matter the "travel measurement" Its how your worm wiggles, not the length...right

 

How often do you break the extended axles? Or do you just have 2 just in case? I know it would be good to have spares anyway. I was just thinking since I'm redoing the rear and was going to get my fronts revalved and buy some TC LCA's it would be almost be worth it to just upgrade to LT and sell my old stuff. Kind of sounds silly to do it that way but was just a thought

 

+2 , I can't run glass in the rear due to my camper shell so I didn't want to run glass in the front either and +2 is as far as you can go w/o glass.

 

Sexy looking setup!! That a solo kit? If so do they make extended axles for it? I also run a camper shell so might be better to stick with just cutting fenders. Hmmm looking at your set up makes me want to go to a +2 for sure

 

Knock on wood I haven't broke one yet, but I'm also extremely careful when using the locker. If it was just a standard cv axle on a local trip I'd just carry one because everyone else I wheel with does too and they are on the shelf at most parts stores.

But....I'm the only +2 setup in the group of us that usually wheel together so I carry two.

If you aren't geared, locked and on 35s I'd spend the money on that before +2 if you already have a MT setup. Honestly I'd just wheel that till I reached its limits then go SAS.

 

Yes, it is the Solo kit. They can get you axles for it but they do not stock them so it is a 3 week wait for axles. There are only a couple of places that make axles and rumor has it that it is the same place that makes TC's axles and TC always has them in stock ready to ship.
