Yeah from 278 hp at 6k rpm to like 311 at like 6600 rpm...still doubt it will make much of a difference seeing how you aren't getting any more power down low. The engine would just be screaming if you were to go that fast.

You do know supercharged set ups tend to see gains across the entire band and turbocharged set ups can be tuned for high or low, right?

Well i don't know about you, but I'm not talking about superchargers or turbos, the guy was talking about a different tuned engine found in other lexus models.

"The 2GR-FKS combines the D-4S system from the 2GR-FSE with the simulated on-demand Atkinson cycle used in the 2UR-GSEand 8AR-FTS engines. The intake camshafts are equipped with VVT-iW and the exhaust camshafts are equipped with VVT-i. In the Tacoma the engine specifications are 207 kW (278 hp) at 6000 rpm and 359 N·m (265 lb·ft) at 4600 rpm.[9] In the Lexus RX 350 the engine specifications are 220 kW (295 hp) at 6300 rpm and 362 N·m (267 lb·ft) at 4700 rpm respectively. In the Lexus GS350 the engine specifications are 232 kW (311 hp) at 6600 rpm and 380 N·m (280 lb·ft) at 4800 rpm respectively.
Same engine, different tuning. I'd like forthem to give me the option. Power or MPG's."

Yeh i was reading that but 2018 means late 2017, and remember, in patient!! Unless my current ride totally shits the bed...

    Tbh though the only
Visually appealing midsized on the market right now are the twins and the taco.

Well see what else gets released…i hear jeep might bring something Into the mix. And maybe mercedes;)

The Focus is still being produced there until 2018, so in this case it means that production of the Ranger will not begin in that plant until 2018 ... so I doubt you'll be seeing it late 2017.

I came from a 2006 Ford Ranger 4.0 5 speed. The Ranger was more fun to drive, I could bang shift it all around and spin some serious tire. But the Tacoma has 4 doors, better mileage, and a much nicer cabin, suspension, etc. I did like the Mazda 5 speed though.

I'm still learning this 16 TRD OR. I'm new to Toyota so this is my first.

I went with Toyota because I can't afford the Raptor, and a F150 wouldn't fit in my garage. The Tacoma barely fits. Ford also didn't have manual trans truck. When/if the Ranger comes out it may change things as I'm a Ford guy at heart. I'm just not sure the ranger is aesthetically pleasing....

My manual trans Tacoma does have a slight lag off the line, but it recovers quick.

I did notice when I went off road, starting on an incline is tough... I stalled out a bunch, I had to give a lot of gas and feather that clutch and even so the rpms dipped like crazy... Definitely wasn't used to it, the Ranger I had climbed very well, but it had zero traction control/aid so it spun a ton of tire in the loose stuff.

Yea man.. I had to put it in 4low to get up.

Maybe I'm still used to my bronco, I pretty much never used 4low because it had lots of power n torque at like 100 rpms lol

If Toyota paid me to make this truck work properly with the stock dia tire, I would change the gear ratio to 4:56 and change the throttle curve to come in at a faster rate and at mid point taper out a a slightly slower rate. Get rid of that not enough throttle then the imediate jump to too much throttle.

    No replacement for displacement.

Cheap, quick upgrade would be to regear. Toyota says its a high reving motor and thats where all its power is so put a taller gear in it to stay in the power band more often. Obviously your MPG will suffer but who cares, it's a truck. 4.10's or bust.

Vehicles are so efficient anymore you're somewhat wasting time and money messing with headers, exhaust, cats. You might pick up 10 hp but youll drop a heavy amount of money to do it. Spark plugs don't do shit. CAI are pointless too, especially in a fuel injected truck.

Gear it, don't granny shift it, double clutch when you should and be careful the floorpan doesnt fall out when you hit the Nos.

Bad advice, floor pan is dead weight. Be careful and be sure the floor pan DOES fall out when you hit the Nos!

    Yeh the mpg
Would prolly be real shit if you changed the throttle curve or whatever. I always thought throttle
Curve was linear and just based on how hard you stomped the pedal haha

    I would
    Juss wanna custom
    Exhaust to give
It a better tone, any added power is just sugar on top
