If we replace this and do a lift afterwards, will it cause it to happen again?

Now that would prolly make me blow a gasket myself. Thats why im leaning toward to not letting toyota get involved. They have had atleast since 05 to fix this just with our trucks. It would seem they have no intention of fixing this. Maybe they are trying to detour people from lifting period.

More shit then I ever planned on doing
They are. I got into it with the service manager today And kindly told him to go fuck himself. I wasn't gonna let them replace it with another needle bearing even if they did cover it and have to go through this shit again in 10k miles. I just wanted to see were gonna say about it. I'm gonna do the bushing and call it a day.

Gad. Well, it would not be the first time one of their TSB parts was junk. I have all three bearings: the old needle bearing, the new TSB needle bearing and the ECGS bushing. The TSB needle bearing is just as big of joke as the old needle bearing. I don't know why you guys are letting the dealer do this under warranty when you will keep having to go back again and again. So what if its free, you are going to have to do the bushing in the end anyway plus they will probably scratch or otherwise damage your truck.

Have you had the tsb done?
Probably not, I did, and have 10k mi since the install, and no problems...
And they didn't damage my truck!

I replaced my bearing (with ecgs bushing) and aftermarket cv axle this weekend on my 06 trd w/163k and in summary it did not work. I have the same vibes as before. The good news is I have a tax refund check and a realy nice looking tacoma for trade so I am done with this problem and hope to be driving something new soon. I would like to comment on the repair though. It was the worst repair I've ever done to this truck. My original cv shaft did not pop out. It had to be pried, chiseled, bashed with a sledge to come out. On day 2 because I was tired of working on this, it was time to put in the aftermarket cv axle which was even worse. I was only able to get it in by hitting it with crowbar and 10 lb sledge on the notches on the axle. Took about an hour to finally get it in. Glad I won't be doing this again. Good luck to everyone else. Hope theirs go easier than mine. I'm going to miss my tacoma but look forward to a nice smooth riding vehicle.

No, it shouldn't. If you put in the ecgs bushing replacement it should stop all vibes lifted or not.

With everyone else's success, including myself, and only a few rare cases of failure either you're truck or some parts you used (ecgs bushing, cv axles) or your install are causing the problem.

Never use aftermarket cv axles as they are junk also. Try to get oem or remanufactured oem.

From the sounds of it, you have no idea what you're doing. If bashing shit with a sledge hammer is your solution to something that takes a little finessing, its no wonder you have issues with your truck. Good luck with your next vehicle. Hope it comes with a warranty....

Replacement bushing is on the way. Gonna see what dealer says first wednesday morning. Never had any luck with a warrenty but who knows. Talk to shop foreman yesterday an he said if in fact it is the bushing i speak of that they will replace the bushing only not the whole diff. He acted like he had done several. Who would have guessed that? So Instead of enjoying this nice weekend i have to worry about my brand new truck. Sounded like it was eating a steal sandwich this morning when i drove it to town. Wamp wamp wamp. I will say the radio blocks the noise but can still feel it in the floorboad.
make or break it will be fixed this week.

I got a whole new front diff at 12k on my 2013. My dealer - one of the good ones - said it was because they could document both sound and vibration coming from it. They felt it on the test drive and heard it via chassis ears. Apparently Toyota has an escalation schedule of some kind. Anyway, I did not get the TSB bearing as it came out a few months later. 25k now and no issues. Oh, and it's a Baja with the factory leveling suspension, so that may have something to do with the response. I was told that Bajas and Pros lead to the new bearing because they couldn't deny coverage based on a factory lift. If it goes again I'm going to have everything fixed under warranty, and once any worn parts are replaced I'm adding a front ARB air locker - this is another way to fix it for good.

Well tomorrow is the big day. Have a appointment at the dealer first thing in the morning. Im 99.9 percent sure this is whats wrong with my truck. I have printed off the tsb an going to take it in with me. I hope they replace it. An i think they should by all rights. But since i have a ome lift who knows. If they dont im off sunday an will be installing the ecgs bushing. I prolly shouldnt waste my time. But my gut feeling is telling me i should atleast let them try to make it right. I have several friends at the dealer. Maybe they wont give me a rough time. I will give updates either way. One thing i have noticed over the last couple of weeks digging into this issue is alot more people have this problem then i ever dreamed. I have met a couple of tacoma owners who have had this problem since day one an just live with it. Drives me crazy i couldnt imagine having to just deal with it. Ohh the needle bearing blues. They have a hand on me. Ha

Just to give a update. I took my truck into the local toyota dealership this morning along with the TSB for this issue. In a nut shell they replaced it with the TSB bushing and the problem is gone for now. I was totally shocked. An come to find out they actually had the TSB needle bearing replacement bearing in stock. Only took them about 1.5 hrs to do it. Tech said that he had done several some with lifts some without. An he said he had already done a couple of the 2016s. Im still going to keep the ECGS bushing and if it comes back I will put it on myself. I just wanted to give the dealership a shot to fix it first.

What state do u live in? Im in washington and it seems like they never cover anything. I have a 2013 and my vibration started 4months ago. I havent taken it in cause i dont like the toyota dealership here. They find every reason not to pay.

Got mine covered under warranty the other day and all is well. Back to a nice quiet truck with no growling/humming/vibration. Hope it lasts.

Im in Kentucky. I was devistated they done mine with little to no trouble. I barely had time to get home when the woman called an said it was done. Like i said in prevous post. I first thought no way. But i was wrong. She told me it went so fast because they actually had the tsb bearing in stock. An she said we dont even have break pads in stock for your truck but we have this what does that tell you. Im usually not this lucky. Still cant beleive it. I called them back after i got home yesterday an thanked them for doing it for me an allowing warrenty to cover it. Needless to say im a happy camper. I hope you get yours fixed man. Explain to them again this has happened to stock trucks too. Its just a bad design. I have only had my new 2015 taco a couple months now an just now finally getting to enjoy it. Knock on wood. Good luck man...

Now all i hear is the roar of my new mud terrain 33s. That i can live with. I can even live with fixing stuff that fails as a direct result of over sized wheels and tires an lift. But this bearing is just a crap design. If i was having trouble out of both sides of my diff after mods then i could justify the tires an lift as a culprit for example.
