What's the thought behind how the aeroskin protects more than just the leading edge of the hood? I googled it and watched a couple of YouTube videos, but still unsure how it works.

I didn't read through to see if anyone asked what your needs are, but...
If you have kids or dogs you may just go ahead and get the plates. Small little feet or legs can easily go through the sliders and really cause some lifelong damage. Having said that, they really do look better without them and are obviously cheaper. I have kids AND a dog, and I chose to go without. For me, that means I will have to be very good about helping them in and out of the truck. If, at any point, there is a close call, I'll buy plates and weld them on. Hope this helps

The hood skin is definitely attractive but it does nothing for the paint in front of it. This is a disappointment, to me, in the hood/grille intersection even though I love the new gen. I had them on my last 2 trucks and they did their job. The truck before those, without the skin, was rock chipped exactly in front of where the new skins attach. IMO they should have coated that area, similar to the area beneath the doors, the same color as the paint to protect it. Then the skin would protect the thinner paint coats behind it.

Hope you don't smoke... Having a lead acid battery in the cab with you is not a very wise choice.

Nope don`t smoke, and I had one in the same spot in my 01 and 98 Taco, you do see that it`s a sealed Battery right?

With the risk of spillage and the off gassing when it gets warm. Still not a good idea IMHO.
