First, I'm having issues connecting an iPhone 6 Plus. I can do everything except get and send messages as well as email. I've scoured the web and no joy. I've selected my my vehicle under Bluetooth on my device and enabled everything. When I select "messages" on my truck, it ask if I want to set it up. It then says "waiting on device" and then times out.

Also, I'm only getting about 18 MPG on avg which seems a bit low. The first 25% of my daily commute is major highways with random lights. This seems a bit low. I'm not driving it hard at all. Thanks gents.
    BTW, it's a 2015 Tacoma Sport 4 door 4x4.

Had the exact same problem with my iphone at first. I just kept at it over the course of about an hour, rebooting phone etc etc. and it finally worked. In settings>bluetooth, under CarAccessorySystem you might try to press the round circle to the right and then disable "show notifications" IIRC

I got 17-18 MPG for the first 1015 miles and then like magic the tranny smoothed out and the MPG jumped to 21-23 consistently.

2015 is a second gen, so you are in the wrong sub-forum.

18 MPG is perfectly normal for any year Tacoma.

    Correction. It's a 2016. Slight typo.

Fuelly says the average 2016 Tacoma mileage is 18.6.

    So yes, you are average

Dealing with 2 annoying issues. My text reading will work but I have to set it up every time I use my truck. Literally, it says "would you like to set up messaging" everyday. My 2014 4Runner did not have this issue.....same 6 plus. Anyone have any ideas?

The other issue is that I can not scroll when on the phone mode (last calls) with the joy stick on my steering wheel. It works if it's on radio but when it shows percent calls, it won't scroll. Anyone else have this issue . I doubt they made it this way, my 4runner worked fine. Thanks!!!!'

Not plausible the truck itself changed this significantly unless you changed something... driving style more likely.

Ive driven a 4 door Jeep JK with 37x13.50s. Im quite familiar how to drive a vehicle in "gas saving mode". Haha. My vehicle hit about 900 miles yesterday and now, Im getting about 22-23 mpg. Incredible. Thanks gents

Maybe. But mine(TRD DCSB Sport)definitely went from 17/18 for the first three tanks to 22/23 since. I can only assume driving style or a computer controlled break in of some kind

I am also convinced, from reaing this forum, the OR gets at least 2mpg less.

that's interesting. I bet its the lower dam. OR doesnt have it. The tacoma engineers swear it is good for 2MPG. Why else would they put such an ugly thing on a truck unless that is true

I love the truck but this head unit is a joke. Mine does something different every time I get in my truck. I had a unit which was five years old that was better than tgis POS. I hope Toyota is listening.

I had the same issue originally...On you iPhone, go to settings, Bluetooth, CarAccessorySystem and hit the small little circle on the right, Turn ON Notifications.

My notifications are on. It worked perfectly in my 4Runner. It could be a phone thing. Maybe I'll borrow my wife's phone for a bit and see if it's any different. Shouldn't be this difficult

I still have the same problem, where text notifications never seem to work. For a while, it got better but by no means is it working correctly. I am happy to say that I did find an easy temporary fix that doesn't require you to stop your car. All I have to do is turn the bt on and off one time, using the slide up menu on my iPhone. The read button will immediately change from grayed out to normal. New messages from that point will be readable while driving
