I got a set in my glove box when I bought mine. Don't know if their standard equipment and Toyota gives them out to everyone with the purchase of a Taco but don't know. (I wouldn't think they give out anything for free) Thanks

Like most other locking devices, all they do is slow a thief down. Not that that's a bad thing, but they sure aren't 'secure'.

I got em and use em. why not? Wheels and tires get stolen. I've seen it twice. You thing a Ford Explorer is useless? Should see it resting on its rotors.

One of the only things I bought from the stealership since they keeps a set of master keys in case I lose my key for the lugs.

And yes I did once and they bailed me out

My first "mod" was to remove the locking lug nuts and replace with normal nuts. Had them on a car when I was younger. They make changing a flat tire at 5 am just that much more frustrating.

Mine came with them so I use them. But they seem worthless to me since you keep the special socket key for them in the vehicle.

To me, if a thief wants your stuff he/she is going to get it. Locks just add extra time to the job of stealing it, in turn increasing their chances of getting caught.

Friend had wheels stolen from BMW in San Diego back in the 90s and he asked the police officer if he should get lock nuts. Officer said that usually just resulted in the theif vandalizing the car in frustration. Obviously selection bias at work (no one is going to call the police to report their car was not vandalized) but worth considering. My solution is to not put expensive rims on my truck ;)
