Looking at picking up a 2006 Tacoma sr5 v6 auto for pretty cheap. Just had new frame, suspension etc etc done by Toyota. All stock.

My drive to work is 200 km round trip. Secondary highway, 80-90 km/h, what can I expect for l/100km driving easy at these speeds?

    I know my 2012 ram crew 4x4 wi 5.7 hemi will yield 11ish l/100km
I am hoping Tacoma will get in the 9 range??

I went to Fuelly and got this information. This is for the 2012 Toyota Tacoma. I would assume it is pretty accurate and would cover mixed driving.

    • 12.8AVG L/100KM
    • 493Vehicles
    • 25,253Fuel-ups
    • 10,877,708 mies

I look at fuelly as well, but I find it doesn't give me what I'm looking for.

Mixed driving right now most new full sized trucks get 19l/100km in the winter.
I know when I take my full size to work it is 12 at most l/100km because it is travelling at optimal fuel mileage speeds.

Just looking for someone with an access cab (lighter than double cab) that can give me an idea of what to expect travelling 80-90 km/h for l/100km.
Am hoping for in the 9's if driven easy and only a couple of hills.
Like I said my hemi in my 2012 ram can see high 10's but usually low to mid 11's in the summer.

I highly doubt a Taco can hit 9's.

    9L/100km is Honda Civic territory

For the record I am not talking combined city/Hwy. Read my posts.
I have a Mazda 3 and another guy at work has a 2012 civic, we both get 5.5-6 l/100km on our work commute in the summer.

Does anyone drive a stock taco v6 auto access cab 80-90 km/h and can give me an idea of what they get AT THESE SPEEDS, for l/100km

I said in the 9's. And I have been reading and 24-25 mpg has been achieved by people going 55-60 mph on their work commute. Which is in the 9's for l/100km.

    Imperial gallons maybe.
According to the Toyota website a 2016 automatic TRD off road's highway rating is 24 miles per imperial gallon (19.98 MPG US, 11.77L/100km).

edit: 2016 TRD off road is apparently manual only. SR5 automatic is rated for 27 miles per imperial gallon highway.

The best I tank ever recorded from my 2007 V6 AccessCab (AT) was 10.9L/100km (which is 21.5MPG in US Gallons). That was driving a constant 100-102km/hr on fairly flat prairie roads in the summer.

The slightly lower speed of 80-90km/hr may help if its flat, but I sincerely doubt it would get you anywhere near the 9L/100km range.

Well that sucks. Basically gets what my full size gets. I'll likely pass on it then. I just drive too much to get to work.

I got 9.9 one trip in my ram 1500. Going very easy at 80-90km/h. Was impressed.

What about a 2.7l 4cyl? Any better at these speeds?

I know this is 2nd gen forum, but was the 1st gen 3.4l any better?

Really want a taco for work (forester) but can't spend all my money on gas!

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
Before I started packing on the mods my best tanks were around 20mpg US. Those were highways with some 100km/hr with long sections of 70km/h through national parks. Not sure what that converts to, but I'm guessing nowhere near 9 l/100km
