I have a 1997 Tacoma with locking rear diff. Most of what is missing are electrical and computer. Any ideas where to obtain harnesses and computer? I would like it to have it work.

Id personally just wire the switch independently so u can use the locker whenever you want. If u run it loke stock via the ecu itll only work in 4lo unless u do the gray wire mod. Wiring it up idependantly is just like the gray wire mod but easier...

Just run 12v to the existing switch im assuming is still there and then from the switchnto the locker.

Sorry i dont...but the e locker just needs power to engage. Its basically the same principle of wiring say a light bar.

So do you have or are getting an e lock axle? Or already have it equipped in the truck and just wanting to bypass the ecu and not do the grey wire mod?

Well since you already have it equipped im not sure if you would get a constant 4wd light on or something like that if you dissabled it. When i referenced it in this thread it was for a truck that didnt have any of that system currently. So it would of been much easier. He didnt need anything fancy in reguards to a custom harness or ecu....just run a switch to power the locker.

So since u are alread equipped, it'll prolly be easier to do the gray wire mod in your case.... you could do it the way i mentioned above too, id just be afraid of a dash ligh being stuck on. With that said there is prolly a way around that too, or it might not be an issue...i just dont know.

well thanks for the help, I thought about what I had said and figured there were some more differences to why and what you had posted for doing the mod the way you did/ posted for..... I'm still trying to figure out the gray wire mod as it still doesn't seem as clear to me as what it should be (but then again i'm slow and hard headed, and I don't want to be mixing wires around that don't have anything to do with the mod I want)
