Wiring help for Bed lights

    I am currently in the process of wiring up my bed LEDs. I ran a 16 gauge wire to the bed and everything is working fine. My only hiccup is that I have a 16 gauge wire to the bed and a 22 guage wire coming from the LEDs. So..... how in the world do I connect these 2 wires that will stand the test of time and be weatherproof/resistant? A quick search on the internet didn't reveal anything of importance. What have you guys done to connect different sized wires?

    So just take the 16 gauge and solder it to the 22? heat shrink that puppy and I'm good to go?
