    It's the NHL. The rulebook is not tightly enforced because if it was the modern game would have no flow.

    You should of been around a decade ago. It was much worse.

    Wait until the playoffs, when the refs call basically nothing.

    Yup. Except in the NHL you can apply it to every penalty call except high sticking. The refs always call high sticking by the book.

    Even nut tapping, aka spearing, isn't called much in the NHL even when it's right in front of a ref.
