I'm just here to spell "Although though" differently........All tho tho.

I don't give a fuck which truck OP buys, wasn't going to read 8 more pages of this nonsense & wouldn't drive a Colorado if it was free.

insightful. that adds a lot to the discussion.

OP buy whatever you want. drive both. see what you can get for pricing/packages and make a decision based on what you need and want. You know that starting a thread like this will just lead to fan-boy excitement, and personal biased worthless opinions. Keep your vehicles 2 yrs? Buy whatever you like and rely on the warranty. Keep your vehicles 10 years? Go drive some comparable 7-10 year old GM and Toyota trucks to get an idea of their general quality and how they hold up. Things don't change drastically from year to year. A 10 yr old GM still handles like a ride-on lawnmower with a lift kit. Use your head and make your own decision.

So you've got slightly better grammar skills than a 5th grader but you wouldn't drive a free truck.

Fan boys can't nitpick grammar. You forfeited your logic card already. :D

There's no logic in this thread, no reason to bring the card. There was nothing grammatically incorrect in my post anyway, punctuation was correct and the missssssspelluying was on purpose. If someone gave me a free Colorado I'd sell it ASAP. That is pure logic. Also not a fan of anything. You're 0 for 4, give up. :D

Not much content, but he is probably right. There are still lots of old S10/Sonomas/S15s on the road. They were good trucks. The first gen Colorados/Canyons don't hold a candle to them.... or anything. About the only good thing about them is that they eventually came with a 5.3L LS based engine.

so much false information in this thread.

Good luck OP, just test drive them both. Pick the one that fits your needs.

The resale value difference is so small, it shouldn't factor into your decision. Even the horrible GM gen 1 twins have held their value really well.

Any vehicle if taken care of properly will last 200k fairly easily and without too many problems. (yes, every maker does have lemons, even toyota)

I had to make that choice two months ago. if I wanted a 4x4, toyota would have won. 2wd, IMO GM wins.

An,d lastly, GM is selling 85% of the trucks produced. Toyota is selling 72%. They both are selling very well. Dont buy into some of the terrible advice given.

They don't like the second gen Tacos either. They have been panning them for years for their "jittery ride" , low seating position, Etc. The only year they liked them was 2005 when they won truck of the year. They still give them props for reliability though. The black dots for reliability for the new GM's are "projected reliability" based on previous models. They have to be around a while for the full score. The data is still out on the third gen Tacos too, but they are predicted to have decent reliability.

Consumer report, the appliance rating company/magazine that all the car forums generally detest as hog wash in their automotive knowledge and rating? Ok, you go ahead and follow that advice. They probably rated the Tacoma higher than the Blend King 1000 in a comparison test...

Talk about starting a thread to make people fight, holy crap!!!!
If your really questioning whether to buy the Colorado or the Tacoma. I think I'll speak for every body in saying you deserve the Colorado!!!!
If your go to Autoblog.com and look up the vehicle that has the #1 resale value according to KBB, not an auto manufacturer but a specific vehicle. The Toyota Tacoma has the #1 resale value of all the vehicle's sold in the USA, period! If that is not enough to sway you, then I stand buy what said!!!!

    Just a comparison:

I just did a quick comparison on KBB taking similar 2008 Model 4 door - Pre-Runner vs. LT Coloardo's with 100k miles in Very Good condition (note, both vehicles were entered using the same year, 2-wheel drive, mileage and options), this is the results:

    2008 Colorado 4D LT - MSRP $21590 - current Private Party Value: $10452 - has retained 48.41% of price.
    2008 Tacoma Pre-Runner 4D - MSRP $22540 - current Private Party Value: $15086 - has retained 66.92% of price.

The thing you didnt add was the with the rebates the colorado. people were getting them for less then MSRP, around 19k or so. thats about an 9k difference. People pay full price for tacomas (for some odd reason), thats about a 8k difference.

Not saying the tacoma's resale value isnt better (obviously it is, even using my numbers). Just not enough to be the sole reason of buying one over the other. With the better MPG the twins get now, that easily makes up for the difference.
