Just made an appt for mine monday morning. It has a tell tell clunk when its cold and at times does not engage in a timely manner. Today it even slipped out of gear once for about 2-3 seconds when pulling away from a light. My truck has 1800 miles now.

I had my 5k mile service today. They changed my oil without me asking, did not however check my transmission like I asked. They told me they same thing, I'd have to leave it overnight for them to see the problem. I also have a rattle in my F/R dash speaker, said id have to leave the truck all day for them to pin point the issue.

I'll probably just have to pay to have them Check it,then if it needs to be filled bitch about it when I get the bill so I don't get charged. That seems like the only way to get these things topped off.

New (old) guy here, but first truck being delivered March 11th - '16 Limited BBP. This a.m., I emailed the dealer..."as part of the PDI can you please ensure that a technician focuses a few minutes to properly verify the automatic transmission fluid level is topped up?" He says "You got my word on it! I’ll have my top guy P.D.I your truck sir." Told him that's great, "and I look forward to meeting him (the technician) too." I'll make sure they guy physically checks it. (Hope I'm doing OK so far.) Just want to say thanks for all the excellent advice and help.

Now, I recall it mentioned earlier and I've tried hard to search TW and can't seem to find it, but can someone point me to the references about U Boats being loose somewhere?uboat.jpg

Part of the 5,000 mile service is checking and adjusting all fluids. I'd make them do it.

Is it possible these bozo's at the factory are simply putting fluid in the transmission until it leaks out the drain plug with a cold empty transmission? That would make the most sense, because no one is going to measure the correct amount. It most likely comes out of a large 50 gallon drum and is pumped in as they go down the line. They are not accounting for all the fluid that has to flow into the torque converter, valves etc.

Let us know how you make out .
Other low fluid posts are showing the Canadian trucks had the low fluid issue addressed ?
Its the american trucks that still have the issue
I would like to hear if this is correct .

And just for a heads up , some members with american trucks are not experiencing any symptoms but are still finding their fluid low .
I should change the poll wording back to all 2016 trucks are low on fluid rather than could be

Of the 23 votes that said the fluid was fine, was this actually checked?

I have had no symptoms and zero hesitation, even in temps down in the low 20's and when I shift into gear the truck wants to go immediately. Mine was made in Texas and was manufactured back in September of 2015. I also don't have the tow package.

took mine to the dealer with shifting challenges they found it a Qt low , my other complaint was a vibration under the cab and extending to through gas petal crawled under to find the drive shaft grease points never done at factory (1000 miles on it) had them do that also. my gen 1 had the same problem if I let some idiot change my oil most of these new tec's wouldn't know what a grease point is if it had a c-note attached .75 miles later vibration gone.

I didn't pay attention to the rpm's but vibrations at first started at 45 mph and got worse as I went faster .I had only had it on the hwy once in 950 miles so it wasn't noticed at first, at 75 mph it was uncomfortable probably around 1800- 2000 rpms that is its normal an a resent 800 mile trip depending on the wind. My dealer was great to work with on both concerns.

Well, to more or less echo what everyone else is saying, the mechanic that rode with me this morning said he's going to do a tranny fluid check and will likely need to add some.

On our ride, he asked about the additional weight of my tires and if it effected the way it was driving since putting them on, then had me switch to ECT-and-back to feel the difference.

He said he definitely felt how it was "getting lost" slowing and accelerating, possibly due to the additional weight, but wasn't suggesting that it was normal.

He said it definitely shouldn't be shifting that way. We'll see if it's better when I pick it up this afternoon.

Not a Tacoma, but super-informative video. This will make you never want to take your truck to Valvoline, or any other oil & lube place to have them check your transmission fluid.

I'm only posting this because Toyota kept my truck this morning so it would have time to cool before checking levels. This puts why into perspective for someone (like myself) who is not a mechanic.

Update: Took the truck to the dealer today to diagnose the issue. I talked with the tech first hand and I felt he was an honest individual. The problem of the slow engage when shifting to drive on a cold block could not be diagnosed (I knew this already) as the truck wasn't being left at the dealer.

He checked the fluid level and actualy said it was slightly overfilled......and yes I actually believe him as he described in detail the process and the overflow. I'm kind of torn here. I sincerely believe they checked the fluid and it was fine. He checked the trans for TSB updates ( there is in fact a 2nd to 3rd update) so the user who said there wasn't, you may want to check again. My trans had it installed already.

    I don't know here......
