Apparently Toyota's Kanban type efficiency in manufacturing doesn't carry over to their shipping. My new TRD Sport was supposed to be here today but has been sitting in Kansas City for a week now. WTF

OP this isn't a postal service where there is a guaranteed delivery date. the delivery date is a estimation nothing more. Even when the dealership does receive your vehicle, don't be surprised to have to wait another 2-3 days for the dealership to diagnose it and activate systems. Be patient.

Pardon my ignorance. I assumed Toyota might be efficient in all things they do. Thanks for pointing out the error of my assumptions.

Just wait until the dealer gets it on the lot, someone else sees it and offers over msrp for it, then the dealer sell it to them. Then you would have a reason to be upset.

I'm more of a scrum guy myself. Having a bad User Story. But good news, we can push it to a later release.

dig around - has happened to multiple folks here. One guy had to order a second one, and when it came in, he went to pick it up and found a sales guy about to let someone test drive that one.

Not that it's relevant to the OP, but you can have a BMW custom built to your specifications in Germany and it'll be at your dealer in about 6 weeks.

Remarkably, it can take 2-3 times longer than that to get the Toyota you want from the plant in Texas, if ever. It's fair to say that the extra middleman Toyota uses (the regional distributors) only makes the process more frustrating for customers without providing any tangible benefit.

Ya i've seen it happen. It wasn't necessarily the other people offer more money, it was a different salesman would undercut another salesman just for the numbers. Or a salesman wouldn't mark the car as sold in the dealership database. More often than not, it's the salesman fault. Good thing though if it does happen, you usually have more negotiation power with the dealership.

Call toyota, tell them you'd like to submit a turnback.

The way Tacoma's are selling, they wouldn't care. Lots in the central Midwest and East coast are having a hard time keeping them on the lots due to demand

Even less relevant - guy I work with ordered a 2015 M3 - opted for Germany delivery, and then for South Carolina delivery after that. Had a ton of freq flyer miles to cash in so off to Germany he went. They presented his vehicle to him in a private little ceremony, gave a multi hour driving and ground school, titled/insured it for 2 weeks in Germany so he got to drive it around, then he delivered it to BMW's shipper and came home. Couple weeks later he got the call his car was here. He went to SC to pick it up, and they gave him a day of BMW driving school for picking it up there. He said that that option actually cost less than just ordering here and waiting for it to show up. He was only out his food and lodging since the airfare was free.

Well, it was more of a joke. I don't think toyota would let customers submit turnbacks or insist that they hold a kaizen burst event to improve on time delivery since his truck is sitting somewhere for an extra few days.

We use a combo of the two here - the new development areas use Scrum and the IT operations services/support areas leverage ITIL & Kanban.
