Bad clock location

The factory clock is located in a bad place. Mine is blocked by the steering wheel and difficult to see when driving.
Has anyone here tried relocating theirs?

 

If you have one that still works, you are the exception. We all agree the location socks. I never bothered with relocation. I wear watch and carry a cell phone.

 

Everyone with a 01-04 agrees with you on tw. I have not personally seen anyone relocate it though. Most just find other uses for the space...putting a switch for lights or winch controls, switch for mirror controls, volt meter etc. Your best bet is using your stereo clock or a aftermarket clock accessorie.

 

If it ain't the steering wheel, it's the wiper switch amirite? I have an aftermarket stereo that says the time on there.

Yeah but it is the though that counts.....just as useful as the clock.

But seriously, yeah it's a crappy location. That was one of the reasons I upgraded my stereo.

 

Something is loose on my clock because it works sometimes and sometimes it goes blank/off...I tap on the plastic covering and it comes back on typically..

I retired. Now I don't give a crap what the time. Still works fine

 

@FirstGen Jer That's sweet - what mounting plate/etc. did you use to mount the switches? My clock still works just fine, but I might prefer the switches, given that I've got a clock on my stereo.

 

And when I do, I wear a watch.

Yep that is the exact issue 99% of first gen owners have at some point. There are contacts inside that become faulty. There is a company you can send the clock too and they "rebuild it" for like $20 bucks. Or you can do it yourself...

 

I stole idea from Jason, he was the first one I saw do it. @jberry813 Lots of guys have done it since. It is effective use of the space.
