I should know by tonight if that is OK, and I would probably do the day trip as well. Right now I am thinking that Saturday would be the best day for me to go.

No reason this can't be out by noon. Unless we all start drinking first.

Hopefully! Then I could get it into the shop on monday and maybe, just maybe, have a running truck by april. If you guys can't make this meeting, I will be doing the same thing for when it comes time to reinstall the engine.

Nope, not yet. I was going to start in on some of the basics this weekend if I have the time. Remove front bumper, lights, hood, grille. Start draining the oil for sure and then start on the radiator. Probably wont get to removing it.

I am taking it to the machine shop to have it worked on. A used engine is $2600. Since mine has only 50,000 mi the guy said that it will be cheaper to have it fixed. Should be under $1000 to fix this way.

Don't bother draining the oil, it can stay in for the trip. Unless your mechanic said otherwise.
Drain radiator first, you'll need a couple buckets. Should be a petcock on the bottom somewhere I would imagine.
You can leave the bumper on.
    Hood needs removed for sure.
Grill might need removed, after the radiator is out. The radiator might be enough...you just need room to clear the input shaft and the motor goes up from there.
