Mothmans buggy build

Starting this kinda late, and I haven't taken tons of pictures up to this point so it won't be your typical build thread..


Front suspension

• Icon 2.5 extended travel coil overs
• Camburg uniball upper control arms
• Removed swaybar

Rear suspension

• Chevy 63s, ruff stuff swap kit
• 3 degree shims
• Bilstein 5125 12 in travel

Armor

• 4xinnovations diy sliders w/kickout
• Sos concepts hybrid front
• Boxed rear frame with hitch and D-rings (high clearance bedsides and tube work to be added)
• 4x8 sheet of 3/16s waiting to be formed into skids
• Got a deal on a full set of budbuilt skids

Drivetrain

• Nitro gear 4.88s
• Arb air lockers front and rear, both diffs were built and installed by east coast gear supply
• Cheap wannabe flowmaster 40 with rear axle turn down
• Rear diff breather relocated to the driver side tail light housing
• Lengthened stainless steel brake lines from @OCTaco

Exterior

• Shorty antenna
• 4ft Wilson CB antenna
• Uws toolbox
• Trimmed fenders

Recovery

• Warn m8000 100ft synthetic line
• 2 20ft straps

So wheeled a friends private testing trail tonight...
Managed to roll back into a tree and dent the tailgate more

so I bought the truck from carmax, with 7000 miles on it for 17k


Only shot of it I have after killing a phone or 2

Wheeled it stock once or twice, ripped the mud flaps off, decided I needed a small lift and 265s..
Ended up going with bilstein 5100s and 886s which netted me about 3inches.. And I put 255/85r16 km2s on the stock steel wheels


Sometime after the lift I picked up a heavy plate rear bumper and a set of 4xinnovations sliders.. And the rear add a leafs sagged so I put a wheelers 3 leaf add a leaf in.


Then I put a light bar on..



Went out and played in the snow




This happened
Which resulted in this...




Wheeled it with 255/85s for a good long time..

Went ahead and threw down on some air lockers.. and started hacking the truck up for 35s.




Pulled the light bar...



Played in the snow again with better results than the last time



Then I sold the rear bumper and boxed the frame in..



Got rid of my stock 5 gallon bucket muffler..



Sold my arb bumper..



Got a nose job...



Annnd now your pretty much caught up...

where did you box the frame? pics? want to do it to my taco

 

Just at the rear where the frame ends on both sides, ran 2x3 square tube between and welded in

How do you like the trac rac? I use mine for kayaks.

I loved it.. it's sitting at my father in laws house lol. Hauled my canoe and kayaks really well though.. I also had a decent amount of weight in pipe and lumber on it.. they're tough..

Yes they are! My truck wears mine about 9 months of every year.

I chopped mine down about 4 inches or so.. I'll probably end up building a bed rack or something at some point

 

Not a bad idea. Do you have the Tacoma specific trac rac, or trac rac one?
