My 10 year old black Wrangler always cleaned up nicely. You had to look close to see the trail pinstripes.d1c9bb1915c0b6c61610875dbe1ed623_be5c14224bc091b3781b7e0e77372d1b5c3cf4ee.jpg

Does your paint seem to scratch a lot? I know a black car scratches and shows dirt more, but my truck already has a bunch of pin striping. I accidentally hit a low hanging branch last night and it scratched my roof pretty bad. Is it just the Toyota paint job or will I expect this easily scratched paint through the the rest of this trucks life? What is the easiest way to remove them? Polish?

I haven't noticed any propensity to scratch any easier than other cars I've owned, no. I've done three hand washes now and put on a nice coat of wax so I've seen every square inch of the truck and have not found a scratch or even any microscratching or spiderwebbing yet.

Are you off roading ? What is your wash process ? And yes, easiest way to remove scratching is polishing. You can try a hand polish but for tougher scratches you will need a r/o buffer, pads and a good line of polishes.

I use meguiars wash and wax. That's about it. I mistakenly took it to autobell the first time. I have legit offroaded it one time so far in west virginia where there were briars and low scrubbery. Other than that it is mostly driven on road.

All it takes is one automatic wash or one off-road trip. You do those things, it won't matter what color paint you have, you'll likely get scratches. If you're going to offroad it, best to invest on a r/o buffer and pads and polishes.

By the way, you using a two-bucket wash ? Grit guards ? Good wash mitt ?

Grit guards might help a little. They won't keep all the small particles at the bottom of your buckets but they will keep some of them down there. Every little measure helps. And grit guards are cheap. And given you use two buckets and a good mitt, I'm betting you are careful of what you use to dry it off.

Yeah I dry off with clean microfiber. I don't seem to have little swirls and scratches. It just seems that every time I'm in the right sunlight, I notice another scratch... Agh the agony! I guess that's the problem when buying new. If be less afraid about scratches on a truck if it were used. Oh well, I couldn't wait for the 2016!

Yeah, I think the difference in the black paint isn't that the paint is soft, it's because the scratches are more noticeable. I can tell you care about the paint... you really should invest in a r/o buffer in the near future. You're going to be glad you did.

All you need is one day above 32 degrees. LOL.... Grit guards and R/O buffer (stand for random orbital... that means it's not spinning around in the same pattern so it is much easier to use without damaging your paint).
