There is a metal bracket at the top of the driver's side wheel-well with 2 holes in it. It is below the battery location and in front of the top of shock tower. I have attached a pic. Can't imagine what would ever attach to it? Anyone know?

Seriously, can you imagine an option for which that bracket would be needed? Only on driver's side?

Like for assembly line only. Then takes effort to remove so they leave it? That's believable . Would sure like to know if someone else has it on their truck

Unless I hear something here that explains it, I will call dealer parts guy tomorrow and see if they know? The curiosity is killing me. I am betting it's part of assembly process. Just can't figure why one side?

Ok guys I figured it out. I am a structural Engineer and stuff like this drives me crazy. It is directly under the welds for the battery support table under the hood. It stiffens up the inner fender skirt especially needed for an off road vehicle when dropping down or bouncing up and down. The weight of the battery creates inertia loads due to changing direction (acceleration) vertically. The flanges with 2 holes accommodate robotic welding. Since it is only in that one place nothing else makes sense. I am guessing you never get that explanation unless talking with someone on the design team; forget calling parts. I am satisfied with that explanation. Anyone else find out differently, let us know. Sorry for the apparent obsession, I like to get familiar with my new truck (just got Saturday). Yesterday I traced out the cooling lines for the Tow Package: Trans oil cooler (auto), power steering cooler, engine oil cooler. Looks like a well engineered truck.

Better check with the 2nd gen armchair engineers before you start making wild claims like that. I mean, you didn't even ask the parts guy?

Good point. I will ask parts tomorrow. But unless something could actually be mounted to the bracket after it is built, it might not even be listed. But I should ask. Thanks

Ok, I will join in on the jokes: It is a Go Pro mount for those wanting a view of the front tire (driver's side) while off-roading.

Jokes are fun!! But in all seriousness that mount kind of reminds me of the mount behind the air intake on the passenger side. That mount had something to do with the non-trd offroad models... OP I'm sorry for polluting your thread
